❤️💛🖤 Nominations for the Blue Plaques program are now open! The Blue Plaques program celebrates and shares the stories of people and events that have shaped NSW. It aims to raise awareness and appreciation of our shared cultural heritage by placing blue plaques at sites across NSW that have a strong connection to noteworthy individuals or moments in history. Recognised First Nations individuals so far: Pearl Mary Gibbs | Blue Plaques (nsw.gov.au) Emma Jane Callaghan | Blue Plaques (nsw.gov.au) Dr Charles Perkins | Blue Plaques (nsw.gov.au) If you know a person, group, or event from the past that deserves to be recognised, nominate them today. To be eligible, nominations must: • Relate to a person, group, or event that has made a lasting impact on a community in NSW or NSW as a whole • Be appropriate, sensitive and engaging to a wide audience • Relate to a person or people who passed away more than 20 years ago, or an event which occurred more than 20 years ago • Have a location in NSW for the blue plaque that is publicly accessible and has a direct connection to the person, group, or event. For the first time, you can also vote for the People’s Choice blue plaque from a shortlist of nominations that just missed out in previous rounds. Rich recently took the campaign to Stamford, CT. By all accounts, Stamford is growing and thriving. When we think about the change we hope to see in this country, it’s easy to look past the communities that are doing well. In fact, even within these communities, a sense of apathy can begin to creep in. For communities like this, the question becomes, is the community working for all of us or just some of us? 🌎 Annual Report 2023: SOMOS Comunidad 🌎  In 2023, PADF made significant strides in empowering Colombia’s most vulnerable communities through community-driven initiatives. By supporting 126 civil society organizations (CSOs), we boosted their organizational capabilities by 94% and helped develop 52 protection models, five of which were adopted as national policies. Our work also encouraged civic engagement through Municipal Youth Councils and Victims' Committees, ensuring that local voices shape the future.  We also focused on enhancing trust in Colombia’s National Police, raising public confidence from 56.8% to 62.7% over the past five years through targeted training and community-police partnerships.  Additionally, we strengthened 34 municipalities by nearly tripling institutional effectiveness and fostering dialogue on citizen security, promoting a safer and more resilient future.  Uncover more highlights in the images and follow the link 🔗 shorturl.at/ocfR5 for the full report.
