In October 2023, the national leaders of Spain and India met in the city of Valdodara to inaugurate India’s first private military aircraft manufacturing facility. The factory will soon begin turning out EADS CASA C-295 transport planes. Previously, the type was only manufactured in Spain and license built in Indonesia. The C-295 is a medium-sized military transport powered by two turboprops mounted on a high wing. Since its introduction in 2001, the type has proven its versatility. Fully 36 countries operate variants for everything from basic transport to maritime patrol to airborne early warning to anti-tank duty. To run the Indian operation, EADS (part of the Airbus conglomerate) tapped Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), which is itself part of Tata Group, India’s largest business conglomerate. TASL already has operations that build components for planes like the C-130, F-16, and AH-64, but this will be the first time they manufacture a complete manned aircraft. It is part of India’s current push to become a center for all types of manufacturing, including defense systems. It also marks a concerted effort by both countries to deepen their business ties. The first C-295 is slated to roll off the Valdodara line in 2026. Once India’s needs for the aircraft are met, it will likely start serving other militaries around the world. One of the busiest days for the #Israel Air Force, as it seems, with around 10-13 aircraft actively conducting what appears to be ongoing pilot training using BEECHCRAFT T-6 Texan 2 and similar aircraft. Meanwhile, surveillance missions continue uninterrupted, notably marked by the appearance of 𝐘𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐁𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐒𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐧's C-130 Karnaf with the call sign "MICHAEL.". Also the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐀 𝐂-295 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 has also made an appearance. This Czech Air Force transport aircraft is reportedly serving in the northern sector of the #Sinai, contributing to the region's monitoring efforts. 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞: The location of the aircraft on the map is indicative, and 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 due to ongoing GPS jamming in the area. As a result, the dotted flying path and positioning of aircraft to the north are merely illustrative of the signal but do not reflect the correct location.
