As we wrap up this month (and the year, almost), we find ourselves reflecting on the journey of building RegisTree into a truly #impactdriven initiative. Working with and within our communities has shown us that environmental change is about so much more than just strategy; it’s about relationships, understanding local contexts, and #empowering people to be part of the solution. This month, we piloted new methods, like our Black Soldier Fly composting, in response to feedback and challenges faced in our #vermicomposting. Every step is an experiment, a test of resilience, and a lesson in #adaptability. Impact-focused work pushes us to consider multiple pathways to our goals. From collaborating with #localfarmers to experimenting with hybrid composting techniques, we’re reminded that there’s rarely one “right way” to approach #sustainability. Each challenge invites us to innovate, collaborate, and explore new strategies to create value—environmental, social, and economic. At RegisTree, we’re committed to maximizing our positive footprint, but we’re equally dedicated to building an inclusive, community-oriented model of environmental stewardship. As we grow, we’re excited to continue learning, adapting, and building with the communities around us. Here’s to collective action, ongoing experimentation, and a more sustainable future for all. #CommunityCollaboration #SustainabilityJourney #EnvironmentalImpact #InnovationInComposting #Climateaction

New publication alert: my article on “Guilty Grieving in an Age of Ecocide” has just been published in the journal parallax! It is part of an exciting special issue (the first of two) on the topic of “Feeling Implicated: Affect, Responsibility, Solidarity”, expertly guest-edited by Stefano Bellin, Jennifer Noji, Michael Rothberg, and Arielle Stambler. Here is the abstract: "This essay seeks to demonstrate the value of different guilt-ridden and grief-stricken cultural forms and social practices in helping us develop a new emotional literacy to navigate the challenges of environmental breakdown and collective responsibility. It examines three case studies – Octavia Cade’s novella The Impossible Resurrection of Grief, Chris Jordan’s documentary film Albatross and the self-immolation of David Buckel – that illustrate the complex interplay between environmental guilt and grief, showing how these emotions can serve as motivators for positive change and contribute to ecological attunement. The essay emphasises the importance of moving beyond individualised guilt to a collective understanding of environmental responsibility and offers insights into the potential of guilt and grief to drive meaningful action in addressing the ecological crisis.” Links to a PDF of the article and the table of contents of the special issue are in the comments. Do check out the issue as a whole, as my article is in truly great company, with the other contributors including Michael Rothberg, Sakiru Adebayo, Stephen Cucharo, Mihaela Mihai, Alexis Shotwell, and Jonathan Flatley!
