🌿 Eco-Linguistics: Sustainability Through English & Waste Management 🌿 “Inspiring Indonesian Youth to make impactful changes through small and significant steps” 🌿Eco-Linguistics: Sustainability Through English & Waste Management" is a comprehensive initiative designed to empower Indonesian youth with knowledge of sustainability and proficiency in English. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 (Quality Education) and 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), the initiative combines education and environmental action to create lasting, meaningful change. 💡 Impact Highlights: ✅ 100 participants directly impacted, plus 100 more indirectly. ✅ Hands-on waste management training conducted at two schools in Central Lombok—Sekolah Pesisi Juang and Hikmatul Falah Islamic High School. ❗Many of you may have seen updates on my profile about Eco-Linguistics “Sustainability Through English” and our recent graduation in November. ⁉Now, let me share more about the waste management training that formed a core part of the project. In November, we conducted practical training sessions at two schools in Central Lombok—Sekolah Pesisi Juang and Hikmatul Falah Islamic Local High School. These sessions taught students sustainable waste sorting and management practices. At Hikmatul Falah, the training was further enriched through a collaboration with the Generasi Bintang Sejahtera Foundation, amplifying the program’s impact. 🌿The journey to making this project a success was not easy. I faced many challenges along the way. Just before the project started, one of my key partners decided to withdraw, leaving me to quickly find new partners in a short amount of time. There were also delays in delivering the Zero Waste Kits, which caused changes to our plans. 🎁Despite these challenges, I’m incredibly proud to share that we successfully conducted waste management training in Lombok, Big thanks to the amazing volunteers and everyone who believed in this project. 🌿A special thank you goes to the OMLAS Team for their unwavering support and guidance throughout cc OMLAS - One Million Leaders Asia Nelis Global Peter David Pedersen Rashmi Shrestha, Harshana Shrestha Sarad Pokhrel Boon Liang Loh and and other team members😇🧡 📢 Want to know more about the challenges, breakthroughs, and how we made it all possible? I am grateful that within past 2 weeks i got a chance to visit several cities in Indonesia hearing what the local authorities dealing with the city problems and challenges, and what potentials that can be explored in each of the cities. From waste in which limited landfills are available and how innovation and technology are needed to process the waste safely and eco friendly; water resources that are urgently needed by the people, yet only major infrastructure such as dam and river connection seem the only available options nowadays; transportation that can be interconnected and friendly to those special needs groups; energy that is more affordable and accesible for people, and; landscape in term of green open space that can contribute to biodiversity. Access to funds, synchronization of national and regional policies and regulations, technical assistance for designing the cities based on their uniqueness, characteristics, and potentials might be the priorities that we can do right now. Either adopting the concept of Safer Cites, Smart Cities, Biophilic Cities, etc as long as there is a strong participation and ownership from the city STAKEHOLDERS, we can make everything come true for the CITIES and for the PEOPLE

I'm excited to share the success of our Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) training, which held last week, organized by the Indonesia Network Learning Centers for Environmental and Social Sustainability (managed by Equator). This five-day online training was attended by 52 participants from diverse sectors and enriched with insights from expert speakers from institutions like the WB, ADB, AIIB, IIF, and other professional practitioners, both theory and practice. ESIA is essential for balancing the fast-moving development with sustainability. It helps us identify and mitigate environmental and social risks, ensuring that projects don't just meet regulations but also respect the ecosystems and communities around them, especially the affected one. The training was designed to be hands-on and interactive, with real-world case studies and simulations that let participants put ESIA principles into practice. We learned to assess project risks and design mitigation strategies, while also engaging in discussions and collaborative group work. Daily pre-test and post-tests showed participants’ growth, reflecting their deeper understanding of ESIA’s core concepts. We hope that this training could empower professionals to lead the way in sustainable development across sectors like infrastructure, energy, resource management, etc. We also hope all participant could strive to make their projects comply with the environmental and social safeguards standards. Huge thanks to all participants for their commitment, all expert speakers for sharing their valuable insights, and to my colleague for their hard work and dedication in making this training a success! #ESIA #EnvironmentalSafeguards #SocialSafeguards #CapacityBuilding #ESG #ESS #ESF #Sustainability

🌱 Engaging Young Minds at Tunku Putra-HELP School 🌱 Last month, I had the opportunity of assisting my supervisor in delivering a talk to Milepost 1, 2, and 3 students at Tunku Putra HELP, focusing on the topic of “Energy”. It was an insightful session where we shared practical ways for students to save energy and discussed the negative impacts of energy waste, emphasizing the importance of conservation for a sustainable future. The students were incredibly engaging throughout the session, eagerly answering questions and participating in the quiz we provided. Their enthusiasm and quick thinking were impressive, as they shared thoughtful responses on what they know regarding renewable and non-renewable energy. It was clear that they were interested in the topic, making the discussion both interactive and rewarding. Although the session was fulfilling, it did come with its share of challenges. We encountered technical difficulties at the start, which caused a slight delay in our presentation. However, with the support of the teachers, we quickly adapted to the situation. Collaborating closely with my supervisor and team also taught me valuable lessons in time management, problem-solving, and teamwork. This experience has been nothing short of amazing! Also, it was a refreshing reminder of how impactful early education can be in shaping future leaders. Grateful for the chance to give back to the place where my own journey began. #Education #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #NonRenewableEnergy #TunkuPutraHELP #GivingBack

As I complete my master's in Information Systems Management and Digital Innovation, I’ve been pleasantly surprised at how the program's focus on sustainability aligns with my career goals in technology for development. Integrating new tech concepts with my nonprofit background has been incredibly rewarding. Here are a couple of projects I worked on during the program: 1. Proposing a platform-based solution for Beuang, a waste management SME in Indonesia that supports SDG11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. We mainly aimed to increase Beuang's competitive advantage by enhancing its layered architecture with emerging technology and strengthening the network effect by building a digital community (Module: Digital Business Strategy. Lecturer: Jochem Hummel). 2. Developing an expansion plan for a multinational company aiming to internationalize the production of its sustainable products line. This project involved a thorough analysis of political, economic, social, and technological factors seen through the lens of sustainability and SDG affinity (Module: International Business. Lecturer: Christiane Bellucci). It is rewarding to see that sustainable goals are no longer niche and are becoming part of all discussions. My master’s experience at the University of Warwick - Warwick Business School has equipped me with new knowledge and skills that I’m eager to apply in advancing technology solutions for global challenges. Thanks to my colleagues who made this experience delightful.

In collaboration with Yunus Thailand and SEAMEO SEPS, we've made a significant impact globally in 2023, reaching 420,332 educators and youths. 💡🏫 This is a remarkable success of our #WasteHero recycling education program fostering a waste management culture in Southeast Asian schools. 80% of students and educators expressed satisfaction, with an impressive Social Return on Investment (SROI) of 4.49 times for every $1 spent in Indonesia and the Philippines, according to Environmental Resources Management (ERM). SROI is a methodology used to quantify the social impacts generated by a CSR program relative to the investment made. This approach ensures that its programs are designed and developed to maximize societal and community benefits while efficiently utilizing the company's capital and resources. The free teaching materials promote recycling, zero waste, and circular economy principles, guided by an Educational Advisory Group comprising 23 teachers, academics, educators, and zero waste specialists from 17 countries, the program offers 19 lesson plans and activity worksheets suitable for learners of all ages. Help us in expanding our reach to more communities! Share the link within your network and help empower others to drive societal change.
