We are incredibly proud to be part of YATTENDON ESTATES LIMITED. The Estates boast a plentiful 2,450 hectares of land dedicated to growing a variety of cereals, supporting biodiversity and protecting the local landscape. Working so closely with the Estates gives us the opportunity to use malt grown in the fields adjacent to the brewery for our beers, enabling us to collaboratively control the following factors: • No use of insecticides, increasing the drive to being biodiverse positive. • Promotion of pollinators and natural predators, through the creation of nature corridors across the farmed landscape, encouraging beneficial insects to protect/support the crops. • Increasing the area of land dedicated to habitat creation and supporting wider biodiversity, beyond industry targets to 15% of the farmed area. This is more than double the industry target to ensure a thriving natural environment. Winter wheat is the main crop grown on the farm, used as a malting barley for the brewing industry. We've recently started to use Laurette, a barley that has good natural disease resistance; this allows lower inputs of fungicides and still produces consistent yields and fantastic malting quality. DID YOU KNOW Yattendon produce enough wheat to make the equivalent of 27 million loaves of bread each year! #sustainablebusiness #sustainablefarming #sustainability #netzero

🌼 Happy World Bee Day! 🌼 Today, we celebrate the small yet mighty creatures that play a crucial role in our ecosystems. Recent research revealed that some bumblebees can survive underwater for up to a week! This remarkable discovery gives us hope for these pollinators as they face changing climates and heavy rainfall. In Vietnam, apiculture is having a strong development, with a significant increase in the number of bee colonies and honey production, contributing to economic efficiency and environmental protection. Honey and its products from Vietnam are well known for their high quality among international market. Vietnam ranks 6th in the world in honey export. In the Netherlands, we are committed to preserving our bee populations through the National Pollinator Strategy, launched in 2018. This comprehensive plan outlines goals to arrive at a number of bee species showing a stable or positive population trend by 2023 and 2030, and includes measurable targets to track progress. The NL Pollinators Strategy has over 100 partners who endorse the objectives of the NPS and more than 120 initiatives. Our efforts include creating bee-friendly habitats by planting wildflower corridors, meadows, and rooftop gardens to provide much-needed food sources for bees. Creating B&B for Bees. Public participation through initiatives like the National Bee Count engages citizens in monitoring bee populations and raising awareness about their importance. The Dutch government is also working with farmers to reduce pesticide use and promote sustainable agriculture practices that benefit pollinators. Our multi-pronged approach focuses on habitat restoration, public engagement, and sustainable farming. Together, let's continue to support our buzzing friends and protect our planet's future! 🐝💛 #WorldBeeDay #BeesMatter #ProtectPollinators #FarmingtheFuture Netherlands Agricultural Network Ministerie van Landbouw, Natuur en Voedselkwaliteit

POLLINATORS Pollinators are responsible for 1 out of every 3 bites of the food we eat. Did you know that bees pollinate 71 out of the 100 food crop varieties that make up 90% of the world's food? Or that monoculture and a lack of biodiversity join pesticides in playing major roles in declining bee numbers? https://buff.ly/3Bgeszl At home, please consider becoming bee-friendly in your garden. Avoid pesticides and herbicides and when shopping, keep an eye out for bee-friendly products. https://buff.ly/3XTVK9E #beefriendly #essentialworkers #weneedbees

Below freezing temperatures and lots of snow didn’t slow down P&G’s first forest field assessment trip of the year, which was in beautiful Sweden. In compliance with our Forest Commodity Sourcing Policy, Procter & Gamble conducts these visits to learn about the sustainability practices our suppliers are implementing in forests we source from. Our Bounty, Charmin and Puffs brands all rely on this specific forestland, and we’re committed to the long-term health of these natural ecosystems. In Sweden, we saw recently completed harvests that prioritized leaving enough trees, stumps and branches for the new growing forest. The purpose of leaving wood behind is so that animals and fungi can continue to thrive – fungi will grow on the logs, while insects eat the dead trees (and then woodpeckers feed on those insects). Typically, there is a focus to harvest efficiently and not leave waste behind, but here, leaving the stumps supports and encourages a healthy forest ecosystem. I look forward to sharing more visits throughout the year! Tell me in the comments: what do you want to see or know more about? #PGEmployee #CorporateSustainability #SustainableForestry

The Koilemeen Project is a conservation effort to bring back the indigenous freshwater fish to the streams and rivers in Coorg. Run by conservationist Gopakumar Menon, the project started as an attempt to conserve the Small Clawed Otters, an endangered species, that live along these streams. The project uses the Koilemeen as its main identity to get locals actively involved as the fish is culturally rooted in the food habits of the community. 🦦 This project creates awareness amongst the locals about the overuse of harmful pesticides and weedicides, why it's important to preserve the riparian buffers and the importance of these fishes and otters to the ecosystem. It uses cues relevant to the locals and educates them about how these ecosystems will positively affect their crop cultivation. 🌱 Coorg, famous for its coffee, depends on good water sources for the cultivation of its crops. Understanding the ecosystem of these water sources helps locals to want to conserve them. When they take care of their water ecosystems, they take care of their crops. Good river ecosystems are the key to harvesting some of the finest coffee in India! ☕️ ----------------------------------------------------- If you know of instances where local and native people are coming together to take care of their own place to restore the lost/endangered biodiversity around them, share them with us in comments! #RainmatterFoundation #TheKoilemeenProject #nature #conservation #wildlifeconservation #communityengagement #local #Coorg #coffee #coffeeindustry

Regeneration of soil and increasing its fertility is just one of the ways Martell are protecting the rich biodiversity of our terroirs. The regenerative viticulture program tests different types of cover crops to add nitrogen to the soil, which is essential for its natural fertility and for feeding the vines. These cover crops also help build a strong root system that supports soil life. Above ground, they enhance biodiversity by providing food and shelter for pollinators. This approach, inspired by natural cycles, aims to rejuvenate the vineyard ecosystem. So much so that the volume of earthworms has increased from 400 kg per hectare in 2015 to 1 ton per hectare in 2022. Evidence that our soils are regenerating and becoming more and more healthy. #InternationalBiodiversityDay Martell Mumm Perrier-Jouët
