We are thrilled to have participated in this year’s EM-Power Europe Conference in Munich, Germany! 🗣 This morning, our Secretary General Carmen Gimeno de la Fuente chaired the session “Demand Side Flexibility: The Role of Grid Infrastructure, Market Players and Digitalization in Meeting Consumer Expectations”. The session delved into how digitalization and innovative technologies, such as smart meters, along with market-based solutions, are empowering consumers to become dynamic participants in the energy ecosystem. Discussions also covered how our grid infrastructure can evolve to meet rising consumer expectations, handle the growing volume of connection requests, and maintain a secure supply. An engaging couple of days at the MIX.E event in Lyon, a pivotal event connecting industry leaders, energy experts, and change-makers, with plenty of discussion on flexibility and batteries. Jacques Arbeille had the opportunity to present during the session “Boosting power grid flexibility”, alongside Yannick Jacquemart from RTE and Vincent Baslé from Enedis. We particularly highlighted during that roundtable that: ⚡ #Flexibility from prosumers is increasingly vital to support the electricity #grid. This will be particularly true and important as our systems become highly decentralised. ⚡ #Australia experienced challenges associated with the #decentralisation of the network well ahead of other countries in the world. ⚡ Australia implemented some first models to leverage flexibility but those are not sufficient to face future levels of decentralisation, and so dynamic #network pricing is now being tested to see how it can help to integrate more renewables and minimise the cost for grid users. ⚡ As part of project Edith, Blunomy supported Ausgrid to test how dynamic network pricing can be used and scaled in Australia for the benefits of the networks and end users.
