Think about this: The very people we trust to protect our families, who run toward bullets when everyone else runs away, are the same ones society now wants to defund. Imagine a day when they don’t show up… when the call goes unanswered. Chaos. Vulnerability. That’s the reality if we keep devaluing the police. It’s easy to judge from the sidelines, but every cop has seen things most of us can’t fathom. They’ve faced situations that would shake any of us to our core. And despite it all, they go to work every day for us. For our communities. For our kids. Growing up, kids wanted to be heroes—cops, firefighters, soldiers. But now? They’re taught to see those roles as the enemy. We’re risking losing an entire generation of protectors because we forgot what real courage looks like. So here’s my challenge: be a voice for those who protect us. Stand up against this narrative that aims to divide and destroy. Because when we lose respect for those who risk everything, we lose the backbone of what keeps our society safe. #StandForTheBlue #TrueHeroes #CommunityStrong

red flag laws x suicide prevention I was in a conference a few weeks ago, focused on su!cide prevention and mental health. For context, this was a corporate led conference, which was new to me, as the bulk of mental health related conferences I have attended are veteran/military organized. An individual in the audience asked the speaker to talk about "removing access to l3thal means for those who are more at risk, such as #veterans and gu/n owners." I am a #veteran. I am a gu/n owner. I have been around f!re@rms for longer than I can remember. Back in the day, my Dad was a competitive trap and skeet sho0t3r. When I was a toddler, he'd take me to his competitions and wrap me up in his cases, while he sh0t. As I got older, I'd sit by him in the stand or with him as he rel0aded shells. While other kids learned about outer space, I learned about b@ll!stics. I never thought twice about seeing a gu/n, but as I've aged, I have come to realize that experience is unique. Any regulation of fire@rms, regardless of justification, is an infringement on s3c0nd Am3ndment rights. So the idea that my access to fir3arms should be regulated because I served in the United States Marine Corps is not only concerning, but odd. I find it even more problematic that someone would attempt to use my job history to prevent my access. Simply serving in the Marine Corps does not mean I am broken. My veteran status does not equate to mental illness. But beyond this, were I ever to desire to proactively seek help, let's say through counseling services, I can guarantee you I wouldn't seek it if I were concerned my access to my .three08 would be restricted. Red flag laws (and the threat of red flag laws) do far more harm than good and erode what little trust veterans have remaining in the system. I say all of this to say, the road to he|l is paved with good intentions.* We should not immediately turn to more and greater government regulation to solve every problem we encounter. Veterans are not broken. We don't need saving. And don't touch my g/uns. _____ #veteransaffairs #redflaglaws #military #congress #suicidepreventionmonth *2009, In Fear and Faith throwback.

This project is such an amazing embodiment of trauma-informed care! I’ve sat with clients on the phone with the FBI, domestic violence shelters, and in local police stations and watched the victim be further traumatized by the carelessness and insensitivity of these environments. What if we could reorganize our systems in a way that was always done with an orientation around healing, rather than productivity, profitability, efficiency, etc.? https://lnkd.in/guysbDWc

On this 4th day of the #16DaysOfActivism, we need to confront a deeply troubling reality: the pervasive silence surrounding sextortion. This silence is not a choice, but a survival mechanism. When safe, supportive reporting channels are absent, victims feel powerless. They are forced to carry the weight of their trauma alone, silenced by a system that often seems more interested in protecting perpetrators than supporting survivors. Breaking the silence around sextortion requires all of us. Every supportive response, every policy change, and every moment of genuine listening becomes a lifeline. #Day4 #16Days #EndGBV #SafeSpaces #EndSextortion

A sad, yet avoidable occurrence... Now isn't the moment for clicking the cameras, Nor for selfies, Nor for prompt obituaries, Nor for rest in peace declarations, Nor for chasing clout, Nor for disregarding safety measures, But rather, it's time for emergency response that could have preserved lives. Why do we prioritize social media trends over lending a hand to save lives? It's disheartening to hear such tragedies unfold, but we must all do our part to help prevent these mishaps. #cpr #savelives #notselfies

SafetyNet Guernsey created the Guide to Reporting Spiking with the hope of helping just one person - now it’s been picked up by BBC 1Xtra Talks and shared with over 800k listeners… We didn’t approach BBC, they found us when looking for groups/resources working to prevent #spiking. We know that underreporting plays a massive role in encouraging perpetrators to continue, and we also know how confusing and scary making a report is for victims who have already been through significant trauma. We are so proud that the Guide to Reporting Spiking has gained so much traction since its launch less than a month ago, and are continually grateful for everyone who helps us spread the word! You can download the guide here: https://lnkd.in/eAMBgf8t #awareness #safety

🚨 Veteran Suicide Prevention Starts with Us! 🚨 This Veterans Day and throughout the year, let’s rally around a critical initiative: Lock. Call. Live. Together, we can make a difference in preventing veteran suicide by focusing on simple yet powerful actions: 🔒 Lock – Keep firearms secure. Safe storage can save lives by adding a moment of pause in a crisis. 📞 Call – Reach out for help. Veteran support is just a call away, including the Veterans Crisis Line at 988, then Press 1. 💙 Live – Encourage veterans to live fully, with hope and the support they need. We owe it to our veterans to show them they’re not alone. Let’s spread the word, support each other, and take part in the solution. Together, we can prevent suicide among those who served. #VeteranSupport #VeteransDay #SuicidePrevention #LockCallLive #SupportOurVeterans #veterans #mentalhealth #community #suicideprevention https://lnkd.in/gimxK85Z
