Innovation is at the heart of our mission to improve water management for communities 🚀 We have made innovation our driving force to improve water management for communities and prepare for the water transition. 👉 In 2023, we have developed more than 150 technological solutions focused on the reuse, purification, decontamination and recovery of water resources. Thanks to the integration of artificial intelligence in our systems, we have significantly reduced the leak detection time, optimizing the performance of our infrastructures. To strengthen this approach, we have launched #Aquaverse by Saur, a collaborative space where customers and partners co-innovate to transform water management models. This international platform promotes collective innovation and the co-construction of new models, allowing us to adapt our solutions to the specific needs of each region. We will continue to innovate to offer efficient, sustainable and economically viable solutions, while raising awareness among our customers about the challenges of the water transition. #MissionWater

🌍 Session Insights: Technology Innovation Spotlight and Their Promise for Water Management 💧 We had an engaging session at the California Data Collaborative Summit, focused on how climate tech can revolutionize water resource management while addressing key challenges faced by water utilities. Our goals were to raise awareness, challenge conventional approaches, and differentiate between fads and meaningful solutions. Key Takeaways: 💧Immediate Impact Tech: In-pipe hydro and AI-driven tools that optimize resource allocation and prioritization are promising technologies that can be deployed now to tackle fundamental needs while reducing emissions. 💧Adoption Gap: Less than 5% of innovative market-ready solutions are currently deployed across the sector. Many water utilities are unaware of existing solutions, highlighting the importance of connecting credible innovations with decision-makers. 💧System Flexibility: Effective water management requires greater system flexibility. Proven solutions like pump efficiency, combined with real-time optimization and monitoring, can ensure high efficiency even as energy-intensive systems come online. 💧Maximizing Assets: Leveraging existing real estate and partnerships can open opportunities for tech deployment and create win-win projects for diverse stakeholders. Energy storage, generation, and carbon sequestration were key examples highlighted. 💧Driving the Business Case: Advancing climate tech will require decision-makers to effectively use data and adopt new tools to showcase cost avoidance and ROI in innovative ways. This calls for water utilities to secure the right expertise (skill up w/ data scientists) and embrace different approaches to planning and technology integration. Hosepipe bans and water shortages are familiar to us at home, but what do they mean for businesses? In this project, we analysed the water usage for different energy pathways and showed how Shell’s R&D portfolio for water treatment technologies compared with research in other industries. A key perspective was the potential change in water availability arising from climate change and population growth. This study has helped Shell develop its global water management strategy.
