Very grateful the UK took gun rights away. Ignore the remaining high violent-crime rates and murder rates that rival NYC. They obviously made the right choices and kept the freedoms and safety of all their citizens completely intact. The UK is a shining example of DEI for the world to follow. I'm so glad that it has all worked out for the best interest of the people, a stellar role model. Note the experiencing of the joys of freedom and safety. So safe that some can freely enjoy street parties without fear of being harmed by a violent populous. The ideology of peace. (Or perhaps it's all simply part of the master plan and nothing they presented is as it appears on the surface. Perhaps the end goals are opposite of the face value presentations. Perhaps their ultimate master is a deceiver who presents lies as truth and truth as lies. Nah. Impossible.)

In his new article for the Annual Review of American Federalism, Jonathan Obert examines the fragmented and varied regulatory, cultural, and electoral responses to guns and gun rights in the contemporary United States. He argues that these responses a result of two long-standing features of American political life: a tradition of armed federalism and a unique, domestically oriented market for small firearms. As a result of the intersection of these two phenomena, the past 150 years have seen the growth of a fragmentary regulatory response to firearms on the part of local, state, and federal jurisdictions; the emergence of an organized national gun-rights movement; and, most significantly, the ascendance of a legal strategy by supporters of gun-rights constitutionalism. Only by examining the historical contingencies of American political institutions and markets does the contested transformation of a “right to bear arms” into gun rights make sense. There was a bill proposed in California to ban body armor for civilians. Sam Paredes of @Gun Owners of America and @Gun Owners of California reflects on his testimony shared at the legislative hearing, defending our Second Amendment right to body armor for self-defense. The recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, serves as a chilling reminder of how out-of-control America's gun policy has become and how deeply entrenched political violence threatens our democracy. Regardless of whom we support, such violence is unacceptable and must be condemned. The fact that a shooter, armed with an AR-style rifle, could attempt to murder a political leader in broad daylight is a damning indictment of our failure to address gun control. This incident should jolt us into recognising that our democratic process is at risk and that both parties must urgently unite to kerb this spiralling violence and champion non-violence. Implementing non-violence requires comprehensive gun control legislation, widespread education on conflict resolution, and a national commitment to fostering respectful political discourse, ensuring that violence has no place in our society.
