I personally avoid as many subscriptions as possible, and frankly, 99% of subscriptions are just pure luxury, and only a small fraction are really mandatory. Also, the reason most companies move to subscriptions is because A makes a lot of money for them, and B, which is the most important, is the mantra (theirs) of "You will own nothing and you will be happy about it." Subscription is renting and is about building reliance. They are trying to make you rely on them. Furthermore, it makes it difficult for you to switch because you need to. You will be subscribing to both until you are completely convinced that you finally want to drop the other one. With content subscriptions, you're only paying for temporary access to the content, not the content itself. That means that there's ultimately no point to libraries and playlists anymore because anything can be swapped, modified, or taken off of the service at any time. When you have a physical copy of something, no decision that isn't yours will mess with what you have paid for. With a subscription, you have no control over the content whatsoever. Same with software as well; good luck, for example, getting access to an older version of a program for whatever reason. You're forced to use what the "service provider" is offering, and for as long as they're offering it. Screw this business model.
Why Everything Became A Subscription

Are Subscription based models good for the consumer? Here we look into HP latest attempt into forcing customers to pay for a "subscription based" ink service and the downside it comes comes. As subsequent users found out, if you, at any stage, decide to stop this "subscription" to their ink service, HP can remotely disable the printer, even if the cartridge has sufficient ink in it. This maybe a simple version, but what if it was a "subscription based EV" which "stopped in the middle of the road" cause "your monthly fee didn't arrive on time" ? or a medical device? #saas #subscription #revenue

Hoskin, CFP®, AWMA™ Nate shares two major mistakes financial advisors make when beginning to create short-form videos… Lighting & audio quality. The Rode VideoMic Me-L (or Me-C for USB-C users), costs $80 on Amazon, and it’s a great beginner microphone for advisors dipping their toes into short-form video. For less than $100, owning a pair of softbox lights will DRASTICALLY improve the lighting in your videos. Never let video quality be the reason somebody scrolls past your content!
