My husband loves snacks and pre-made items from the grocery store. The refrigerator is filled with so many containers that it makes me crazy because it's hard to see what's on each shelf. I make it a habit to clean out my refrigerator every Sunday morning. I clean the shelves and vegetable drawers, and throw out old and expired leftovers. We often overlook the importance of an organized refrigerator, but trust me, it can make a world of difference in your daily life. A cluttered and disorganized fridge not only makes it difficult to find what you need but also leads to wasted food and money. It is more convenient for me to store my husband's pre-made food in clear, hard plastic containers, which we call "David's stuff". He has several containers of his “stuff”. I also use these clear plastic containers in my freezer to separate frozen fish, chicken, and beef. By doing this, I can easily see what I have by pulling out the container. All your food items should be checked for expiration dates. It's common for us to keep pasta or taco sauces for a little bit too long. Be sure to open them up to check for mold. A crusty lid and gooey edges are also signs that it is old and should be discarded. Also take a look at your vegetable drawer. Vegetables last only a short time and can easily be smashed in your refrigerator, leaving a gooey mess behind. Paper towels are great for collecting vegetable leaves and keeping drawers clean. Lastly, go through your freezer. Ziplock bags that have been opened or meat that has been exposed to freezer burn should be thrown out. To eliminate odors, I keep a box of baking soda in the freezer and refrigerator, which should be replaced every 4 to 5 months. Over the years, I've learned that keeping a refrigerator organized and maintained requires having a place for everything and doing regular check-ups. How do you keep your refrigerator organized? Whether you have a walk-in pantry or a kitchen cabinet devoted to food storage, keeping it organized will go a long way. Here are a few tried-and-true pantry tips: 1) Remove everything from your pantry. Clear items out, check expiration dates and discard anything expired. 2) Measure your shelves and line them with a heavy-duty shelf liner so that if something breaks or spills, clean-up will be a breeze! 3) Bins, baskets, and organizers. The fewer items you have piled up on shelves, the neater and more organized they will look. 4) Group items and baking supplies together in small bins and LABEL EVERYTHING. For example, group containers of baking supplies into a single bin or basket, and label it "baking." 5) Utilize door space. The inside of your cabinet doors is valuable real estate. Hang organizers over the door to free up shelf space and store canned goods, spices, oils, or even dry goods like aluminum foil, baggies, or parchment paper. #initsprime #krystleprime #michigan #michiganrealtor #michiganrealestateagent #michiganrealestate #realestate #realtor #realestateagent #influencer
