What is Legacy Gifting? Legacy giving is when individuals choose to leave a donation, or legacy, to a charity in their Will. These gifts can take many forms – a specific sum of money, the remainder of your estate or non-financial gifts – and can be the largest gift someone will ever give. Legacy gifts allow donors to support causes they care about even after their lifetime. By leaving a gift in your Will, you can support Autism Unlimited to continue to empower autistic people, support individuals and their families and improve accessibility for neurodiversity by raising awareness through our training programs. As December begins, I am reminded of the importance of perspectives on life. In moments of challenge, struggle or frustration it can be easy to believe 'Life is unfair'... and if that's the case, there is almost certainly always somebody in greater need than you somewhere in the world. Take orphaned children in Uganda, for example (like the ones being fed at Stream of Holly Cross children's home in the video in the post below). Charitable organisations like this one are always seeking support and donations for their work. That task can be made harder when negative stories about orphanages and children's homes, individually or systemically, are published. Sometimes it can be hard, looking in from the outside, to know what's the right thing to do. If you are moved by the plight of children in countries like Uganda, it may be best to do your research before giving. With the Stream of Holly Cross children's home, for example, you can visit their website to get an overview of their mission and work. I'll put a link in the comments below. Even better, get to know the people behind the organisation - and ask them about their work and practices.
