Latest data from RED C Research confirms what we are seeing on track ... the 18-35 year old market is driving the upward trajectory of key metrics for the sport. On the eve of launching our latest strategic plan for the racing industry it is really encouraging to see the interest levels, attendances and profile of the sport continue to thrive, particularly among younger racegoers. We have seen this at recent festivals in Leopardstown Racecourse, Fairyhouse Racecourse and fully expect to see it in the week ahead at Punchestown Racecourse & Event Venue and Galway Races later this summer. Also really encouraging to see the positive experiences of younger racegoers is contributing to a stronger likelihood to advocate for the sport and get involved in racehorse ownership. - 45% of 18-34s attended a horse racing meeting in 2023 up from 40% - 46% of 18-34s interested in attending future racing meetings up 13% - Almost half (47%) of sports fans interested in horse racing - 3 in 10 18–34-year-olds are strong advocates for horsing racing, up 5% Huge kudos to the Horse Racing Ireland team led by Aileen Goatley for the relentless focus on achieving these key metrics for the sport and to Amber O’Grady for the continued interest levels in horse ownership which is borne out by this research.

Fantastic numbers and a real lesson in how to engage successfully with younger audiences.
The TAB Everest, Sydney’s premier race day, has officially sold out for the first time since its launch in 2017. With 50,000 racegoers set to attend this weekend, this milestone highlights the event’s growing popularity, particularly among younger audiences, with 35% of attendees aged 18-24 and over half of all tickets being General Admission. The TAB Everest has successfully attracted a new generation of racegoers, drawn to the thrilling racing and the exceptional value of a day at the races, with Joel Corry performing the After the Last concert for this year. Australian Turf Club CEO Matt Galanos said, “The TAB Everest’s sell-out crowd is vindication of the original vision of Racing NSW in creating the Everest concept and a testament to the event's evolution and the excitement it brings to the racing calendar. We’ve focused on creating an engaging, value-packed experience, particularly for younger audiences, and this result demonstrates our success in achieving that vision.”

Alinghi Red Bull Racing suffers another mast failure days before start of America’s Cup racing https://ift.tt/UeqCw1z The Alinghi Red Bull Racing America's Cup team have suffered a rig failure again as they prepare for the America's Cup. All crew are safe and the boat us undamaged August 20, 2024. Training in Barcelona ahead of the Louis Vuitton Preliminary Regatta. Alinghi Red Bull Racing have today, Tuesday 20 August, suffered a rig failure when out training on their AC75, just two days before the America’s Cup Preliminary Regatta is due to get underway. The Swiss-flagged team are scheduled to feature in the first race of the Louis Vuitton Preliminary Regatta against Orient Express Racing Team on Thursday August 22 at 14:00 CET. The incident was confirmed by Alinghi Red Bull Racing in a post on their social media channels. The posts reads: “Today there was a rig failure during the early stage of training on BoatOne. Everybody onboard is safe, and an investigation will be carried out in due course. In the meantime, the team remains fully focused on racing.” TEAM STATEMENT @americascup #AlinghiRedBullRacing #AmericasCup pic.twitter.com/xzgVENaC4q — alinghiredbullracing (@alinghiredbull) August 20, 2024 Of concern to the team will be two key facts. Firstly this is the second significant rig failure Alinghi has experienced this year with a previous mast failure on 13 June 2024. The second factor that will be of concern is the relatively light winds and unremarkable sea state forecast today in Barcelona. These two facts together could indicate some fundamental issue in the teams masts… of course it could also just be bad luck. That the team state they are ‘fully focussed on racing’ is good news and would imply that they do have a spare mast that they can use. Indeed we understand they did have another mast delivered to their base at some point in early August. They will now be hoping that there is no fundamental underlying issue with their mast construction. If you enjoyed this….
