At the time when international community is pulled apart by unresolved disagreements and lack of trust, fora like Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) are helping to enhance cooperation towards promoting peace, security and stability in Asia. On the margins of #UNGA79, UNOCT, CTED and CICA discussed how to step up facilitation of #CounterTerrorism capacity building & dissemination of good practices among CICA members. Countering terrorism is fully embedded in CICA's updated Catalogue of Confidence Building Measures

What an array of insightful events and meaningful discussions during the #UNGA79 last week. We at #CTED already feel how the #UNSecurityCouncil and its Counter-Terrorism Committee are taking a closer look at the #emergingtechnologies - including Generative AI and UAS (drones) - from the security and #counterterrorism perspectives. The attention from the UN governing bodies to these issues will only increase going forward, and a guidance from the UN relevant entities based on good practices and lessons learned could be timely, as states are trying to develop a regulatory framework in this area

Our #openaccess database “The Foreign Terrorist Fighters (FTF) Knowledge Hub” jointly developed with International Centre for Counter-Terrorism has been updated to incorporate recent developments surrounding states’ responses to foreign terrorist fighters. The FTF Knowledge Hub is an essential resource on FTFs and states’ responses to them.
