ADHD: A Unique Talent in the World of AI In the rapidly evolving landscape of Artificial Intelligence (AI), we're seeing a remarkable shift in how we perceive and leverage diverse cognitive traits. ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is increasingly recognised not just as a challenge, but as a unique talent that can drive innovation and creativity. As someone who navigates the intersection of AI and cognitive diversity, I've witnessed firsthand how ADHD traits can be powerful assets. Here's why: 1. Hyperfocus and Deep Dive: Individuals with ADHD often experience periods of intense focus. In AI, this hyperfocus can translate into deep dives into complex problems, resulting in groundbreaking solutions. 2. Creativity and Out-of-the-Box Thinking: ADHD is linked with heightened creativity. In AI, where innovation is key, this ability to think differently and generate novel ideas is invaluable. 3. Adaptability and Agility: The fast-paced nature of the AI field demands quick adaptation. Those with ADHD are often highly adaptable, able to pivot and tackle new challenges with agility. 4. Risk-Taking and Innovation: ADHD individuals are known for their willingness to take risks. In AI, where pushing boundaries is essential, this trait fosters an environment of bold experimentation and pioneering advancements. Embracing cognitive diversity, including ADHD, isn't just about inclusivity—it's about recognising and harnessing unique strengths that can propel the AI industry forward. By creating environments that support and celebrate these differences, we open the door to unprecedented innovation and growth. Let's continue to break down stereotypes and see ADHD for what it truly is: a unique talent that has the power to transform the world of AI. #ADHD #AI #Innovation #CognitiveDiversity #Tech #ArtificialIntelligence #Creativity #

✨ My newest blog post is now live! ✨ This time, I write about the importance of empathy and how it is expressed differently in individuals with ADD, ADHD, and autism, including myself as someone on this spectrum. I also discuss the limitations of Artificial Intelligence in connecting with these individuals, particularly regarding how we neurodivergent people communicate and express empathy. Check it out on my blog and share your thoughts with me! ❤️ #ai #artificialintelligence #neurodivergent

💡 Before we all doomscroll thinking #AI is taking our jobs away, let's not forget that it does have its limits and the #humantouch will still be needed, especially from those across the full scale of #diversethinking. 🚀 "As we blaze ever faster toward a world inextricably entwined with the incorporation of artificial intelligence, these properties—lateral thinking, intuitive insight, inductive leaps of creativity, resistance to manipulation or social pressure—will become increasingly important because they represent pathways of thought capable of being complementary to those produced by AI systems, which are inescapably chained to linear progressions of reason." 📚 Excerpt from The Neurodiversity Edge: The Essential Guide to Embracing Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Other Neurological Differences for Any Organization by Maureen N. On AI, Tattoos and ADHD...🤔🎨🧠 If you’ve never seen the movie Memento, the lead character is trying to solve a murder case, but can’t remember anything that happens during the day. With no short-term memory, he relies on his tattoos and polaroids to connect the pieces. ADHD can sometimes feel the same way; without an external system, goals, far-off deadlines, what am I even doing today can get lost among the urgent and shiny. Could the latest advances in AI help? 🕵️♂️💡 When I first played with GPT-3, I knew that we were watching a new age unfolding in front of us, and I wanted to be a part of it. Though my day job at Shopify was focused on helping merchants, I got to see the potential of AI/ML building a chatbot for internal docs during hack days. Since then, I have spent a lot of time building with language models (LLM’s) while learning how they can be applied to assist with everyday life. 🚀📈 Instead of getting tattoos, I developed an LLM-powered personal assistant that can help provide structure and accountability, creating a system that sticks to you rather than you having to stick to it. After some technical dead-ends and side quests (much more on this some other time), I developed v0.0.1 of MyAIPal*, an AI-powered personal assistant, designed with the ADHD community at heart but open to all who might benefit 🧠💡 Acting like an accountability buddy, MyAIPal messages you to prompt daily planning and scheduled check-ins throughout the day. Down the line, it will integrate with your calendar, assist with longer-term planning and more… Demo below 👇 Here’s where I would love your input: - If you or someone you know might be interested in being an early user, please share or add your name to the list - https://lnkd.in/eWp_XEpb - If you or someone you know is interested in talking LLM’s, I’m open to conversations *not the final name

Although often maligned, chatbots do offer more beyond efficiency. In this from BBC News, individuals have spoken about how AI chatbots have been transformative for individuals with neurodiverse conditions such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD. One reason for the popularity of such tools is the lack of stigma in using tools as opposed to asking someone for help. Specific tools like Goblin Tools are designed to support this community. Cause to be mindful when designing recruitment campaigns, that using a broad channel approach to attraction and application can ensure easier access to roles for a diverse population. https://lnkd.in/eB4pVYas

Six weeks ago, I set out to create a simple AI tool to help people with ADHD—or anyone who has too much on their mind 🧠 . Today, it's the top ADHD-focused tool on the ChatGPT store 🚀✨ In that time, it has also: • Already reached over 1,000 conversations 🗣️ • Earned a 4.8/5 rating 🌟 • Become #1 ADHD-focused solution on the platform by recent engagement 🌍 This simple AI tool 🤖, is specifically designed to assist with the unique challenges of ADHD. It's part of what's known as a "custom GPTs" - a versions of ChatGPT fine-tuned for specific use, like movie recommendations, travel advice, and much more. In this case, it's tailored to help people manage their thoughts, tasks or plans more effectively. Why did I create it? 🤔 Well, many people don't have the time or expertise to learn about generative AI, prompting, and things like that. But that doesn't mean they should miss out on the benefits of the technological progress or be left behind. With custom GPTs, we can simplify everything and create tools that anyone can use to make their lives a bit easier. Generative AI is also amazing at: • summarization 📝 • breaking down ideas into plans 🗂️ • organizing tasks into lists ✅ Benefits that can be particularly useful for people with ADHD. To my surprise, most options on the ChatGPT store focused on education rather than providing a simple, practical tool you could just pick up and use when needed - nothing more, nothing less. So, I set out to create exactly that. And you can try it for yourself right here 👇 https://lnkd.in/dDE2vjSa ❗ Pro tip: Try using it with speech-to-text (available on macOS and the mobile ChatGPT app). It’s often easier to speak your mind than type it all out! Even if you don't have ADHD, give it a try. We all need a little help sometimes with clearing our mind and thoughts 💭 Like it? Hate it? Feel free to reach out. I'd love to hear your feedback 💌 #AI #ADHD #Productivity #GenerativeAI #ChatGPT
