Next month, RTCA will host several Special Committee and Program Management Committee meetings, advancing key initiatives to serve the needs of our members and the aviation industry. Aeronautical Information/Weather Data Link Services (SC-206) will work on finalizing their Minimum Aviation System Performance Standards. Information Systems Security (SC-216) will initiate review phases for new security guidance documents. Weather Detection Systems (SC-230) will focus on addressing the impacts of RF interference, while Aviation Software Standards (SC-240) will consider motions to advance COTS and open-source integration guidance. The PMC will meet to review updates to technical standards and radar altimeter schedules. To read more, visit: https://bit.ly/4eOyEWQ #RTCA #Aviation #Standards #Safety #Innovation

This chart is derived from official, public FAA Aerospace Forecast data. It presents the cumulative change in historical and forecasted air traffic control operations system-wide using 2000 as the baseline. ATC operations are predicted to equal or exceed the 2000 baseline in the year 2025, sooner than predicted in the 2018 forecast. What this system-level analysis does not show, however, is the "hot spots," that is, facilities that are already experiencing growth in ATC operations in excess of the 2000 baseline and where additional air traffic controller (ATCO) staffing might be needed to handle the workload.

Our markets are undergoing substantial growth and transformation, and our positions have never been stronger. Security is a top priority in most countries, leading to a strong demand for our products and services. At the same time, the maritime industry is undergoing a transition aimed at extensive energy efficiency and emission reductions. Technology and data access, both above and below water, are prerequisites for success, and we offer the solutions required for a successful transition. KONGSBERG, with our four business areas – Kongsberg Maritime, Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, Kongsberg Discovery, and Kongsberg Digital – is well-positioned, has a record-high order backlog, and market activity has never been higher. This provides a solid foundation for further growth. #Q3 #Q32024 #protectingpeopleandplanet

🚀 Important Update: DGCA’s New VTOL Aircraft Guidelines The DGCA has recently released new guidelines for the Type Certification of Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft. Here’s what you need to know: 🔒 Safety Measures: Systems are designed to prevent catastrophic failures, ensuring they are extremely improbable. This makes VTOL flights safer for everyone. ⚡ Lightning Protection: Electrical systems must function normally and recover within 30 seconds after exposure to lightning, keeping operations smooth. 🔋 Power Reliability: Essential systems must operate for at least 10 minutes if the main power fails, guaranteeing continued safe flight and landing. 📊 Flight Recorders: Advanced recorders are installed to withstand crashes, water immersion, and fire, aiding accurate accident investigations. Why It Matters: These guidelines are crucial for improving the safety, reliability, and effectiveness of VTOL aircraft, paving the way for safer urban air mobility. NEW MODULE ALERT! U.S. domestic enroute CPDLC is now available to all appropriately equipped aircraft as of November 2023 [Ref: Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Advisory Circular AC 90-117]. Training is not mandatory, but operational information is necessary on how to effectively use CPDLC in CONUS airspace. There is new guidance associated with updated and/or new operational authorization. Advanced Aircrew Academy's CPDLC - U.S. Domestic Only module is for aircraft that are FANS 1/A approved, equipped with VDL Mode 2 with Multi-Frequency and "Push to Load" (PTL) capability. Aircraft must also meet avionics requirements per the FAA En-Route CPDLC Participation List, file the corresponding equipment codes, and only log on to the system if they intend to participate. Voice remains the primary means of communication. Authorization for domestic data link communication (CPDLC) use is no longer required for operation under any 14 CFR part; however, A056 authorization is still required for international and oceanic data link operations while U.S. Domestic CONUS data link operations will no longer be reviewed on A056 applications. All operators are responsible for knowing individual avionics capabilities and FAA domestic airspace datalink communications requirements. Operators may conduct U.S. Domestic data link communications where aircraft are properly equipped, the data link service is available, and airspace requirements are met. The CPDLC U.S. Domestic Only module is NOT for operators seeking A056 LOA or Ops Spec authorization for Data Link Communications (outside the US). This is a training module for operators wanting to use CPDLC only in the lower 48 United States. That's all complicated, but it's simple to get the training. email info@aircrewacademy.com #aviation #businessaviation #pilot #pilottraining #international #bizav #bizjet #learn #elearning #fly #flight #safety #datalink #cockpit #airplane #flightdeck #aircraft #safety #safetyculture #linkedin #learning #rules

After Vehicle Network Measurements and Analytics this week, we conclude our HBK - Hottinger Brüel & Kjær 2024 Technology Days next week, on Tuesday 19 November with "The …abilities – Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM) for Dependability". We have some great presentations from my colleagues Bartłomiej Świątek, Mariusz Dabrowski and Kevin Knill. Come and join us, register for free here: https://lnkd.in/eiaN2PCg (scroll down to session 6) Tuesday 19 November, Session 6: The …abilities – Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM) for Dependability • Bartłomiej Świątek will introduce Dependability, the collective term describing the ability of a product/process to function as required when required. • Mariusz Dabrowski will continue the Dependability theme and describe how a Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) is essential for enhancing reliability, availability, maintainability (RAM), and dependability (RAMD) of complex systems. • Kevin Knill will conclude by describing how FRACAS has been applied to a military aircraft fleet to enhance operational readiness, using maintenance and diagnostic data for more effective prognostic health monitoring. #HBK #ReliaSoft #Reliability #Availability #Maintainability #Dependability #RAM #RAMD #FailureReportingAnalysisCorrectiveActionSystem #FRACAS #OperationalReadiness #PrognosticHealth
