Suni and Butch are currently stranded on the ISS due to a Starliner thruster issue, and their flight suits aren't compatible with the Dragon Crew spacecraft. We were there when it happened! In September 2022, LICIACube served as a companion #CubeSat to NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART), capturing imagery of the intentional collision of DART with its target asteroid. LICIACube utilized Blue Canyon’s XACT-50 Attitude Control System for high-precision stellar-based pointing and control of the thruster system for trajectory corrections and spacecraft momentum management. Analysis of data by the DART investigation team shows the spacecraft’s impact successfully altered the asteroid’s orbit, marking humanity’s first time purposely changing the motion of a celestial object and the first full-scale demonstration of asteroid deflection technology. NASA Harnesses Kraken Spinning Device to Simulate Human Spaceflight FriendsofNASA.org: This summer, NASA is using the Kraken, a 50-foot-long, 100-ton U.S. Navy research device, to simulate space motion sickness and test possible recovery strategies for astronauts. The Kraken, located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio, can rotate participants at exposures of up to 3G. As missions stretch further to the Moon and eventually to Mars, a priority is reducing symptoms like dizziness, nausea, and vertigo so that astronauts stay healthy and ready for their missions. NASA’s Neowise satellite, which has served as a planetary defence mission for over a decade by tracking potentially dangerous asteroids and comets, is set to crash into Earth’s atmosphere. After falling too low in orbit, NASA engineers sent the final command to the satellite, marking the end of its mission. NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration and SpaceX’s Dragon Crew-8 mission is scheduled to launch on March 2, 2024 at 11:16 pm EST. This mission, aspiring to carry out scientific research and knowledge expeditions beyond low orbit, will carry four crew members from the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida to the International Space Station. The crew consists of Commander Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, Cosmonaut Mission Specialist Alexander Grebenkin, and Mission Specialist Jeannette Epps, under NASA’s Commercial Crew Programme, demonstrating a perfect collaboration. The mission is the eighth crew rotation mission, which promises to demonstrate the increased capability of modern aerospace technology to take more than one human to space, benefiting from more efficient exploration. Thus, it is promising to add to ever-growing scientific knowledge about the universe. It also represents the collusion between private and federal space organisations, a phenomenon that is also gaining traction in the Indian space industry. With the combined technical knowledge and resources of both, space exploration promises to be a sped-up process.
