🔔 Testing Begins for Euro NCAP’s New Truck Safe Rating 🔔 Testing has started in labs across Europe as Euro NCAP’s Truck Safe programme gets underway. The first scheme of its type for the sector, the programme is designed to address the disproportionate number of truck fatalities across Europe where trucks represent only 3% of vehicles on Europe’s roads but are involved in almost 15% of all EU road fatalities. 🚚🛠️ "In creating a market for safety, Euro NCAP aims to encourage manufacturers and suppliers to innovate, further increasing the safety benefits of the scheme as the ratings evolve. 📷 Throwback to an insightful session with Peter Szelei, Senior Director of Business Development at FERNRIDE and Toomas Uibokant, Operations Manager at HHLA TK Estonia during last week’s #TOCEurope conference in Rotterdam. In their talk about the automation of horizontal transport, our colleagues discussed the deployment of FERNRIDE’s autonomous trucking solution at our Estonian terminal in the Port of Muuga. Here are their key learnings from over one year of live operations: ⏩ The human-assisted approach to autonomy allowed for a smooth integration without disruptions, ensuring reliability in daily operations. Moreover, a seamless integration with the terminal's TOS is crucial for the automation of operations. ⏩ The solution provides operational planning flexibility, allowing for route changes or operational area expansion at any time. It also enhanced the overall terminal's operational excellence as the autonomous trucks always follow traffic rules and observe speed limits, making the terminal safer and more predictable. ⏩ The vehicle kit withstood extreme weather conditions and demonstrated a high durability. ⏩ Pre-deployment concerns have not materialized. The solution's deep integration into the terminal and a seamless task execution make it nearly invisible during operations. #HHLA #automation #logistics
