🎣 How do we foster innovation through external collaborations? Prior to engaging the ecosystem of experts in extensive knowledge-sharing and insights gathering from knowledge platforms, I concur that selecting the right Open Innovation (OI) mechanisms is crucial, taking into account project complexity [Bagherzadeh, 2024]. A practical framework tailored to project-level dynamics is outlined in 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟕 “𝐴𝑙𝑖𝑔𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑂𝐼 𝑀𝑒𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑠𝑚𝑠 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑃𝑟𝑜𝑗𝑒𝑐𝑡 𝐴𝑡𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑏𝑢𝑡𝑒𝑠”, as discussed by Mehdi Bagherzadeh during the enlightening #OIThursday hosted by Marisol Menendez (link: https://lnkd.in/dixF6Vcd). Thanks to targeted OI 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 actions, corporates engaged in open R&D (innovation seekers) can identify potential solution-providers with specialized expertise, often beyond the reach of traditional crowdsourcing methods (𝐟𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 open calls). Turning to the knowledge-sharing (by innovation providers) … kudos to Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy for backing KNOWLEDGE SHARE -Where Innovation Happens, a platform aggregating and showcasing almost all patents, discoveries, startups and spin-off companies emerging from 🇮🇹 Italian public research. Remarkable effort by Shiva Loccisano, Tech Transfer Expert and the whole team (+ Erre Quadro)! 👏🏻 KNOWLEDGE SHARE -Where Innovation Happens is a joint venture involving Associazione Netval, UIBMS and Politecnico di Torino. Thanks to Nicoletta Amodio Fondazione Mai Confindustria, and nicola michelon massimo barbin Confindustria Veneto Est for hosting the presentation event yesterday in Padova. Looking forward to see this best practice embracing further international TTO inputs and implementing #OIwall for even more effective 𝐊 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 for the sake of 🇪🇺 #EUResearch and global businesses! #shapingthefuture #openinnovation #innovationmanagement #absorptivecapacity #boundaryspanning #innovationscouting #IPvalorisation #techtransfer #infinitearea

How do you measure the success of a €80B public innovation program? When the European Commission launched Horizon 2020, ensuring the effective allocation of resources was critical. By collaborating with funding agencies across the EU, Equidam conducted over 150 startup valuations, creating a data-driven framework to evaluate outcomes and financial impact. Here’s what we delivered: 📊 Objective Analysis: Transparent valuations grounded in real market data and industry benchmarks. 📰 Comprehensive Reporting: Insights that demonstrated the program’s contribution to innovation and growth. 🎯 Strategic Impact: Better decision-making for future investments. This partnership highlights the importance of valuation as a KPI for public funding programs, ensuring transparency, accountability, and strategic resource allocation. Here are the funding agencies we collaborated with on this program: • Enterprise Ireland • CDTI Innovación - Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico y la Innovación • APRE - Agenzia per la Promozione della Ricerca Europea • German Aerospace Center (DLR) • Krajowy Punkt Kontaktowy Programów Badawczych UE) Learn more about our work with Horizon 2020 (now 'Horizon Europe') and how valuation is shaping the future of public innovation initiatives at the link below.
