UK Hospice Sector Faces £77m Deficit The UK hospice sector is in crisis, grappling with a £77m deficit due to rising costs and stagnant funding. This financial strain threatens essential end-of-life care services. Without immediate action, hospices may be forced to reduce services, lay off staff, or even close their doors, depriving patients and families of crucial support. We need increased statutory funding, innovative financing solutions, and community support to bridge this gap and ensure hospices can continue their vital work. Stand with us to support the UK hospice sector and ensure compassionate care for all. #SupportHospices #UKHealthcare

Attention Parish Staff! Enhance your community care with Care Cases and Household Care Log in MinistryPlatform. Here's a brief overview: >> Care Cases summarize overall situations (e.g., "Aaron Smith's Broken Leg"). Other examples are a death in the family, marital issues, new mother care, hospitalization, or hospice. >> Household Care Logs track individual interactions related to the care case (e.g., household or hospital visits, phone calls). For example, there may be several Household Care Logs recorded for the Care Case "Aaron Smith's Broken Leg" that record phone calls or visits to Aaron during his recovery. >> Care Managers assign and oversee care, whether they provide the care directly or assign it to others in the parish. Customize drop-down lists for various care types and outcomes to fit your parish's needs, and effortlessly add new care cases with all the necessary details in CareLife. This streamlined setup ensures you can manage and track community care efficiently. The conclusion of the parliamentary debate on Hospice funding was offered by Sally Ann Hart MP (Hastings and Rye). She offered the following messages. Funding for Hospices and PEOLC is not a political issue. The government does support Hospices via ICB’s but funding models require closer consideration to ensure parity with NHS whilst ensuring Hospice independence. We recognise need for better collaboration between ICB’s, wider NHS and Hospices. Extra funding via ICBs will improve localised approach and do call for more funding in spending review. #hospicekeymessages #hospicefunding #hospiceparliamentarydebate

The current climate has resulted in many UK hospices being forced to cut services, leading to fewer inpatient beds and community services being reduced. We need help and support available from local MPs across Lincolnshire and the new UK government. With hundreds of new MPs and a new government in place, it’s critical for St Barnabas Hospice and other UK hospices that the challenge is understood and positive change is supported. Please write to your MP now, using this simple 1 minute form to support your local community and show them how much hospice care matters. At St Barnabas, we have launched our Organisational Strategy for 2024 to 2029. This determines the direction of travel for our Hospice over the next five years, with strategic priorities that will help us sustain the level of care, support, and services that we provide to over 12,000 patients and their families across Lincolnshire, every year. We have asked our MPs to attend the debate on hospice funding tomorrow, 22 April 2024. Why? ➡️ Hospices provide vital person and family centred palliative and end of life care, yet our NHS funding covers barely 30% of our costs; ➡️The cost of service provision is rising. To meet the increasingly complex and multiple care needs of individuals in our care, we need to attract and retain skilled clinical staff. We need to be able to offer them decent pay rises so they can live a good life and afford to feed their families; ➡️ We pride ourselves on enabling people in our care to live life to the full, till the end. Why is dying well such a low unspoken priority in our society? The profile of our sector needs to rise. Please do take part in the debate 🙏🙌
📣 The debate on hospice funding has been rescheduled for Monday 22nd April. This week we've shared that hospices are facing a collective deficit of £77m. We need a new model for funding end of life care, so hospices can continue to support people now and long into the future. We need to see as many MPs as possible at the debate to talk about this important topic. Please write to your MP and ask them attend. https://lnkd.in/eZVRaGB7

With the General Election just weeks away, the Chief Executives of the independent hospices across the North East and North Cumbria area are calling for the next Government to recognise the impact of hospice services for our communities. ✅ Review funding arrangements for hospice care to ensure we are sustainable to support patients and the wider health and care system. ✅ Meaningful support for NHS Integrated Care Boards to better work with inpatient hospices and hospice at home to ensure delivery of high-quality palliative care as outlined in the 2022 in Health and Social Care Act, recognising demand is increasing. ✅ Commit to maintain ring-fenced, centrally distributed NHS England funding for children’s hospices beyond this financial year increasing in line with inflation. #HospiceCare #HospiceFunding #EndofLifeCare #HNENC

The Answer is YES At QBH Community Care we strive on trying our best to always working with the needs of the participants. We are often approached by coordinators, Ndis & Aged care participants, and allied health professionals with similar questions so I thought a post might help in answering them. Yes, We can and do help participants in both initial applications to the NDIS and lodging review of their current fundings. Remember a review is only an application, so the more detail and time spent on it, the more easier it is for the NDIS to understand. Yes, We often help out in emergency appointments or respond to cancellations that can leave a participant vulnerable. We are able to do so because of a dedicated team of support workers that understand the importance of their role and the implications if it is not done correctly. Yes, We have a open line 24/7 for anyone who would like to contact QBH and discuss how we can assist them. Yes, We often are required to customise supports for induvial based on there religion, family, or personnel requirements. It is not always about saying yes, but providers need to understand that supports will be best provided when the participant is comfortable and is in a space where they can open up about certain preferences they might have that will make their journey to independence more effective. 💬 Did you know 70% of Keech Hospice’s funding comes from supporters like you? That’s why I’m closely watching the latest developments in Scotland and England. While Scotland has taken steps to match hospice pay with NHS staff, the funding gap remains a challenge. For Keech Hospice Care sustainable funding isn’t just a number—it’s the care we provide every day, the smiles we create, and the lives we support. Without it, hundreds of beds across the country stay empty when they could be helping families in need. 👉 What would you say to decision-makers about the importance of hospice care? Share your thoughts in the comments! #HospiceCare #Sustainability #MakeTheDifference
