💡Thought-Provoking Read Alert! 💡 I recently came across an intriguing article that I felt compelled to share. It raises an important question: Should we be asking why Europe needs Africa or why Africa needs Europe? More importantly, can we build cooperation between Africa and Europe by leveraging both continents’ strengths to identify converging interests, compatible visions, and potential synergies? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this! https://lnkd.in/edPr97c8

In November 1884 the Berlin Conference took place. Exactly 140 years later the world revisits this peculiar and impactful gathering. Now, we can safely say that the dust has settled. We know the story surrounding this past event, so let's use today to spark up a conversation around how Africa redefines and shapes itself moving forward. What can Africans and the rest of the world do TODAY to redress the flaws left from the Berlin Conference? History is important, but it's not everything. We think that it's better for us to use our time and resources to explore building a new, better-suited and more dynamic Africa for present and future generations, rather than revisit the trauma caused by the ghosts of the past. #140Years #FutureAfrica #UnitedAfrica #BerlinConference #CongoConference https://lnkd.in/dV9RRy4p

#MENA Affairs: It is difficult to imagine that it has been almost two years since a series of a Mw 7+ earthquakes struck #Turkey and Northwestern #Syria. What a sad situation for all of those who were impacted by those natural-manmade disasters. Since then, I have contributed some analysis and commentary on the #MiddleEast, North #Africa, and the #Sahel in the public domain. One of the highlights was my BBC News Arabic Investigations interview on what went wrong with the humanitarian response in NW Syria. Another was my #Algeria, #BurkinaFaso, #Chad, #Mali, #Morocco, #Niger, #Senegal, and #Sudan analysis for the Foreign Policy Research Institute.
