National Inclusion Week is a reminder of something that should be at the heart of every workplace: kindness. As the sponsor of Cadent Gas Limited Grief Awareness Community, I’ve seen firsthand how essential it is for people to feel supported, especially when they’re navigating life’s toughest moments. Grief isn’t something that’s often discussed in the workplace, but it’s a part of life for so many of us and it shouldn’t be hidden or ignored. Inclusion isn’t just about policies or initiatives; it’s about creating a culture where everyone feels seen and valued, especially when they’re struggling. A little kindness, a listening ear, or simply being there can make a world of difference. Let’s commit to being more mindful, more compassionate, and more inclusive not just this week, but every day. We’re all in this together. #ImpactMatters

Today is International Day of Persons with Disabilities- a day that reminds us of the power and importance of disability inclusion. I came across this video that brought tears to my eyes, highlighting the importance of creating a world where everyone, regardless of ability, is valued, supported and celebrated. It's a powerful reminder of how the passion and commitment of one individual can change the perceptions of many. Let’s all take a moment to reflect: Are we doing enough to educate ourselves, our families, and our organisations about disability awareness and sensitisation? Addressing stigma, prejudice, and injustice begins with small but intentional actions from each of us. At Blue Balance, we are passionate about helping organisations build inclusive cultures that embrace diversity and empower individuals with disabilities. If you'd like to know how we can support your organisation on this journey, reach out to us at info@bluebalance.co.za. #DisabilityAwareness #PersonsWithDisabilities #BlueBalance #DisabilityTraining #DisabilityDisclosure

Grateful for the Opportunity 🌟 A huge thank you to our friends in Kerry Foodservice for inviting me to participate in their panel discussion last week, marking International Day of Persons with Disabilities. I'm especially grateful to the Diversity, Belonging, and Inclusion European Committees, and the Disability Pillar for hosting such an insightful discussion on the United Nations 's theme for 2025: "Amplifying the Leadership of Persons with Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future." A special mention to Emma Cahill for sharing her inspiring personal story, Ross McCarthy, who spoke so openly about his journey in supporting a loved one with a disability, and James Staed for expertly moderating the discussion. I was honored to contribute to this important conversation. Open discussions like these help to shift mindsets and build truly inclusive workplaces 🌍. Key Takeaways: 1️⃣ Assume capacity – Start from a place of belief in everyone’s potential. 2️⃣ Challenge unconscious biases – Reflect on how preconceived notions might affect inclusivity. 3️⃣ Inclusion is a shared responsibility – Every individual plays a role in creating an inclusive culture. 4️⃣ Leadership takes many forms – Empower diverse voices and lived experiences. Thank you again for the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful discussion! 🌟 Laura Foody Orlaith Dixon Kare #Inclusion #Leadership #InternationalDayOfPersonsWithDisabilities

#Inclusion is way more than a "nice to have campaign". In the last few years a number of organizations had proved how adopting an inclusive culture helps them to thrive while supporting their employees and communities. The challenge now is to understand how wide inclusion is, and long-term changes such as corporate policies to ensure the commitment lasts over any board changes: Here is where leaders must take action.

This #disabilitypridemonth lets understand that fostering inclusion in classrooms is not just a moral responsibility, it is a step towards understanding the role of diversity in creating a robust workforce. When we foster equitable work opportunities for a community that thrives on innovative ideas while navigating a world mot meant for them, we give them a chance to create those innovations for the greater good of our society and make a significant mark on the Nation's GDP. Moreover, a diverse work force creates partnerships at the workplace that are built on the values of empathy, open communication, resilience and problem solving, which are skills essential and common to all industries and sectors. Disability Pride Month shouldn't just be a tokenistic attempt at showing an inclusive company culture. It needs to be a time where companies understand, acknowledge and learn to leverage the advantages of a diverse workforce. #DisabilityPrideMonth #InclusiveEducation #Empowerment #DiversityAndInclusion #EconomicImpact
