Do you want to raise a child who sees the importance of volunteering and giving back? Try showing them what it looks like to have these values. Sure, reading books about being kind and filling buckets is beneficial. Yes, conversations about this topic are helpful. But when your child sees you volunteering, donating, and supporting causes that are important to you, they learn to invest their own time in energy into these things too. So the next time you're supporting a cause you care about. Consider bringing them with you. Can they volunteer too? If not, can you show them pictures of what you do or what the organization does? Think about ways you can empower them to get involved. For example, here's an easy way to support the students of Toa Tumaini Foundation this month: 1 - Sit down with your child to learn about TTF's work and the children we serve. Show them pictures and videos from our social media. 2 - Invite your child to draw a picture for or write a letter to students in Tanzania. 3 - Encourage them to think of ways to raise money to donate to education in Tanzania: garage sales, selling books to a used book store, birthday fundraisers, etc. Try it and let us know how it goes! What are your favorite ways to teach your kids to give back? #NonprofitOrganization #Volunteer #VolunteerWithKids #KidsThatVolunteer

🌍✨ **The International Day of Charity: Beyond the Act of Giving** ✨🌍 Today, we commemorate The International Day of Charity, a day established to not only celebrate the generous acts of giving but to spark meaningful conversations around why philanthropy, volunteerism, and compassion are essential threads in the fabric of our global community. Charity is more than just reaching into our pockets; it’s about cultivating an ethos of empathy, solidarity, and action. This day urges us to think critically about the impact we can have, individually and collectively. 🧐 **Thought-provoking Questions to Mull Over:** 1. **The Ripple Effect**: How can small acts of kindness create larger waves of change in society? Have you ever witnessed or been part of a ripple effect? Share your stories! 2. **Philanthropy Beyond Money**: In what non-monetary ways can we contribute to charitable causes? Think in terms of time, skills, advocacy, etc. 3. **CSR and Corporations**: How can businesses integrate sustainable charity initiatives into their corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts beyond just writing checks? 4. **Volunteering and Identity**: What role has volunteerism played in shaping your personal identity and worldview? How has it changed your perspectives on global issues? 5. **Long-Term vs. Short-Term Aid**: While immediate relief is crucial, how can charity efforts be structured to create enduring, positive impacts? Is there a balance between addressing urgent needs and fostering long-term solutions? 6. **Charity vs. Social Justice**: How do we discern the fine line between charity and perpetuating dependency? Should our focus shift towards systemic change and social justice, and how can these approaches intersect? As we engage in dialogue on this day, let’s challenge ourselves to think beyond the surface. Let’s envision charity not just as a momentary act but as an integral pathway towards building more inclusive, resilient, and compassionate societies. 👇 **Share your thoughts, stories, and insights below! How has charity impacted your life, and how do you think we can all make a bigger difference?** 🌱✨ #InternationalDayOfCharity #GlobalSolidarity #Philanthropy #Volunteerism #EmpathyInAction #SocialChange

One of the forms of support most often requested by local organizations is help in mobilizing resources- primarily financial. Under NPI EXPAND, we took multiple approaches to providing this support, but I sometimes think our approaches are based too much on western notions of charity. Check out my latest blog on the topic and join us for our webinar to explore this issue in more depth. https://lnkd.in/ey-MU-YW

We’re proud to support Social Mobility Day 2024. IICF believes that everyone should be able to achieve their full potential, regardless of where they might have started out in life. That is why we are bringing the industry together to change live and improve social mobility in the UK. IICF is driving change in four ways: 1. We award grants to social mobility charities nominated by the industry. We’ve changed the lives of 7,200 people from under-served communities nationwide. 2. We connect our charity and corporate partners to create access to diverse talent, share skills, and raise awareness of different forms of diversity. 3. We convene industry leaders at events such as our annual Forum on Social Impact to share best practices, take practical steps forward and raise funds for future grants. 4. We offer an industry-wide platform for volunteering to increase ways employees can make a difference. Hearing stories from our grant recipients at events, sharing volunteer experiences and learning that companies have partnered with or hired someone from one of our grant recipient charities are a few of the many moments that have mattered to us. What IICF moment about social mobility stands out to you? Please share your story and show your support @SocialMobilityDay. Visit www.iicf.org.uk to learn more about IICF and how you can work with us to advance social mobility. #ShareMoments #iicfimpact
