Congratulations to SEA-LNG member TotalEnergies on chartering an LNG Bunker Vessel (LNGBV) from Ibaizabal Group. Total Energies’ Louise Tricoire commented that the company is committed to playing its part in “responding to the sector’s increasing demand for this fuel (LNG) which can help global shipping meet its decarbonisation ambitions,” supporting the continued growth of the existing LNG bunkering infrastructure. Ship-to-ship bunkering, driven by the global rollout of LNGBVs, has seen significant growth in recent years. Recently, SEA-LNG members have acted as industry first-movers to expand LNGBVs globally in key bunkering hubs such as Japan, Korea, Singapore, the US East Coast and Gulf of Mexico, NW Europe and the Mediterranean. Today, LNG Bunkering is now available in 185 ports, with an additional 50 being added next year. The bunkering vessel fleet has increased from a single vessel in 2010 to 60 in operation today, with a further 13 on order and significant interest in the maritime community to continue to invest in these important assets. TFG Marine, a frontrunner in global marine fuel supply, has marked a historic achievement with the successful inaugural liquefied natural gas (LNG) refueling of their bunker vessel, the MT Diligence, at Jurong Port, Singapore. This momentous occasion signifies a leap forward in sustainable bunkering operations and underscores the company’s firm commitment to Energy Transition in the bunkering industry. The deployment of a vessel capable of being powered by LNG, in addition to conventional low sulfur marine fuels, not only demonstrates TFG Marine’s commitment to innovation but also facilitates compliance with the licensing requirements set forth by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA). The 34m3 of LNG required to fuel the MT Diligence was efficiently supplied by the Marine division of Pavilion Energy, a prominent Singapore based LNG supplier. TFG Marine extends its heartfelt congratulations to everyone involved in the successful completion of the first LNG refueling for MT Diligence. This achievement exemplifies the company’s commitment to excellence and sets a precedent for future advancements in the green bunkering operations. #bunkering #energy #shipping #marine #maritime #petroleum #shipowners #decarbonization #digitalization #energytransition #oilandgas #cleanenergy #carboncapture #ports #greenenergy #greenshipping #netzero #sustainability #bunkermarket #europe #usa #uk #canada #uae #netherlands #denmark #norway #sweden #finland #singapore #tfgmarine #mtdiligence #bunkervessel #lngbunkering #lngrefueling #jurongport https://lnkd.in/dsxj7zXB

🌍 What happened at this week's LNG Shipping & Terminals Conference in London? Riviera Maritime Media Ltd shares the important outcomes from the LNG Shipping & Terminals Conference 2024, which took place earlier this week in London. Speakers, including our very own COO Steve Esau, explored the challenges and opportunities of this evolving market and estimated significant growth for LNG shipping in years to come. Key takeaways from the conference included: ✅ Demand Surge: LNG demand is predicted to double by 2027, reaching 12M tonnes annually. Bureau Veritas | Marine & Offshore estimates that eight additional LNG bunkering vessels per year will be required to keep up. ✅ Regional Advancements: SEA-LNG member SOHAR Port and Freezone is expanding its infrastructure to meet LNG demand and looks to become a global LNG hub. This will strengthen the Middle-Eastern LNG supply chain alongside SEA-LNG member TotalEnergies' Marsa LNG project in Oman. ✅ Cost Competitiveness: The cost gap between LNG and traditional marine fuels is making LNG increasingly appealing to those looking to comply with fast-approaching regulations. Today, the LNG pathway offers the most practical and realistic pathway for shipping to decarbonise – with its operationally safe, proven technology and existing bunkering network, prepared for the growth of liquefied biomethane and e-methane. MOL Strengthens LNG Fleet with New Long-Term Charter Contract Blueman Exim News | Tokyo | January 15, 2025. Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) has expanded its position as the operator of the world’s largest LNG fleet by signing a long-term charter contract for a newbuilding LNG carrier with JERA Co., Inc. This marks the eighth LNG carrier charter collaboration between MOL and JERA. The vessel, set to be built at Samsung Heavy Industries’ Geoje Shipyard, is expected to be delivered in 2026 and will be managed by MOL for LNG transportation on behalf of JERA. This agreement underscores MOL's commitment to supporting a stable LNG supply chain in partnership with JERA. It aligns with MOL's "BLUE ACTION 2035" management strategy, which focuses on integrating stable profit-earning projects into its portfolio. Recognising LNG as a low-carbon energy source, this initiative also supports MOL’s “Environmental Vision 2.2,” targeting net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050 and the expansion of decarbonised business solutions across the group.
