This year marks a significant milestone for the Lubee Bat Conservancy #Florida as it celebrates thirty-five years of dedicated service to bat welfare, #Conservation, and education. Since its inception in 1989, the Conservancy has advocated for the preservation and protection of #Bat species worldwide. Established with the mission of saving bats and their habitats through conservation, education, and awareness, with a focus on children and #CommunityEngagement, Lubee has consistently worked towards raising understanding about the vital ecological role bats play in our #Ecosystems. 🍃 Through innovative animal care and welfare initiatives, #Education projects, strategic partnerships, and social media outreach, the Conservancy has made substantial strides in promoting the conservation of bat populations globally 🌎. With ongoing challenges such as habitat destruction, illegal #Poaching, and persecution due to misinformation, their work is more crucial than ever. 👏 Over the past thirty-five years, Lubee has achieved remarkable milestones, including nearly 800 births at the conservancy and funding over 200 conservation programs. Additionally, Lubee has built schools, created jobs, protected forests, supported women’s groups, and partnered with local organizations to assist underprivileged and disadvantaged children. In celebration of the anniversary, Lubee will be hosting a series of events through the end of the year, including Painting with Bats, Yoga and Bats, and their largest event, the 20th Annual Florida Bat Festival, taking place in October. These events aim to engage the community, raise awareness about bat conservation issues, and highlight the importance of preserving #Biodiversity. Pollinator Partnership’s Project Wingspan is actively recruiting volunteers in parts of Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio! Project Wingspan is a multi-year landscape-scale project that enhances habitat that supports imperiled pollinator population including monarch butterflies and rusty-patched bumblebees among other wildlife. This program is made possible by a network of volunteers who receive training in plant identification and seed collection protocols. With the help of Pollinator Partnership staff and other Project Wingspan partners, these volunteers collect native wildflower seeds to be used at selected project sites to enhance native pollinator habitat. Show your support for these dedicated volunteers, like the ones below from Little River Wetlands Project, and learn how you can get involved with Project Wingspan at pollinator.org/wingspan These volunteers, alongside program partners, collect native wildflower seeds, which are then used in habitat creation and enhancement projects. We rely on your support to continue this vital work. Please consider donating to help us protect and enhance native habitats. This project is made possible through a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. #ProjectWingspan #PollinatorPartnership #Conservation #PollinatorConservation #MonarchButterfly #RustyPatchedBumblebee #RPBB #Pollinator #Pollinators #HabitatRestoration #PollinatorHabitat #VolunteerOpportunity #Volunteering

The release herd has adapted wonderfully to life in the wild – but just because they aren’t at Reteti anymore doesn’t mean we’re not keeping a close eye on their wellbeing. In fact, they’re never out of our sight! From community-based observation to tech-supported strategies – we’re continuously monitoring the release herd 24/7! Through the use of EarthRanger's technology, we’re monitoring the elephants’ real-time and historical movements through their GPS collars, paired with on-the-ground reports. This incredible technology is helping us deepen our understanding of the rewilding process and gain even more insight into the journey of rehabilitated elephants. In our latest blog, you can learn more about the various other tools and methods we use to monitor the herd: https://lnkd.in/dyrWKWqB - Your continued support helps preserve not just healthy landscapes, but also the age-old coexistence between people and wildlife. This is only the beginning of a greater journey – together, we can make a lasting impact on the land, its wildlife, and the communities that depend on it. Kansas Volunteers Launch State's First Women on the Wing Chapter Pheasants Forever (PF) and Quail Forever (QF) are proud to introduce the first Women on the Wing Chapter in Kansas. The Kansas Prairie Women on the Wing Chapter will provide women with a dedicated space to bond, collaborate, share experiences and influence upland conservation efforts together. Unique among national conservation organizations, chapters of Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever retain 100 percent decision-making control over fundraising dollars, allowing volunteers to support impactful wildlife habitat projects, public access initiatives and conservation education programs throughout the upland bird range. PF & QF’s east central Kansas regional representative, Mika Rezac, will work closely with the new chapter to support the organization’s vision to sustain abundant populations of wild pheasants, quail and other wildlife. “A Women on the Wing chapter in Kansas is not just important—it’s long overdue,” Rezac said. “This network allows women to exchange knowledge, inspire one another, and build a strong, like-minded community dedicated to preserving Kansas’s upland heritage while carrying out Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s mission.” Learn more at https://lnkd.in/gahV_gzv

We’re excited to announce that The Koala Sanctuary (TKS) has secured a 500-hectare site on Kangaroo Island from Kiland to support koala conservation and research, restore native vegetation and deliver benefits to the local community. Kiland, as part of its partnership with TKS, will continue clearing non-native plantation timber on the site. TKS will progressively replant the property with native vegetation. We’re thrilled be partnering with TKS for this high-quality project.
We’re excited to announce that The Koala Sanctuary has secured a 500-hectare site from Kiland on Kangaroo Island. Set to open in February 2025, the conservation area will provide a safe habitat for around 1,000 koalas, support native vegetation restoration, and foster research and education on koala conservation. This is a significant development for Kangaroo Island in the recovery from the Black Summer bushfires – supporting improved animal welfare outcomes as well as the local community and economy. The sanctuary will partner with researchers, government, industry, and the community to ensure the resilience and sustainability of the local koala population. #KoalaConservation #WildlifeProtection #Sustainability https://lnkd.in/gf-UsGd2

#SustainabilityThursday Last week, we explored how Baotree’s platform has transformed wildlife health monitoring within our conservancies, leading to more effective conservation efforts. This week, we're excited to highlight how our partnership with Baotree is driving socio-economic upliftment for the local community. Using the Baotree app, our team at Gamewatchers Safaris, alongside local community members, actively monitors and manages projects aimed at enhancing the local economy. One standout project is the beekeeping initiative, where the community is trained to build and maintain beehives, monitor hive health, and track honey production and sales. In Selenkay Conservancy last month, this initiative saw the community selling 49 kg of honey, generating 49,000 Kenyan Shillings for the community group. This success underscores the potential of our collaboration with Baotree to not only support conservation but also boost local livelihoods. Together, we're fostering a sustainable future for both wildlife and the communities that share these landscapes. To celebrate #volunteersweek we want to say a massive thank you to everyone who volunteers their time to record and monitor Jersey's wildlife. Your immense collective efforts have resulted in a database that contains more than 530,000 biological records of species from terrestrial, freshwater, and marine habitats in Jersey and its territorial waters. This includes more than 125,000 records of species that are protected under the Wildlife (Jersey) Law 2021. This extensive and ever-growing database of records is crucial as it forms the basis for evidence-based conservation decision-making, land management, policy, and research in Jersey. Jersey owes each and every one of you an immense debt of gratitude for your selfless dedication to nature and the enormous contribution you make to the mission of protecting and enhancing Jersey's natural environment for future generations. #NationalVolunteersWeek #volunteersweek2024 #volunteerappreciation #volunteering #citizenscience #jerseyci #jerseychanelislands #jerseywildlife #biodiversity

Can capitalism save animals? The AMES Foundation thinks YES! 🦏 AMES stands for “Africa’s Most Endangered Species” and was founded in 2020 by a handful of entrepreneurs with a passion for wildlife. By now, more than 200 members are involved with AMES Foundation – both financially and through their active support. They are all united in one goal: to make conservation and animal welfare scalable and thereby make a valuable contribution to the preservation (and recovery) of wildlife 🐆 Since 1970, we have lost more than 2/3 of all species worldwide. The greatest enemy of biodiversity is the loss of natural habitat. By 2030, 30% of the global habitat shall be protected – to this end, we will need more than $700bn per year. Donations and states alone won’t be able to achieve this. We need to leverage the power of markets, of capitalism, to attract financing. Nature conservation must financially pay dividends 💸 The renowned agency HeimatTBWA\ now supports AMES Foundation as part of a pro bono project and has developed the “Capitalism for biodiversity” campaign, which will be on display all across Germany from 22 June 🗞️ #conservation #sustainability #partnership #impact #capitalism cc: AMES Foundation Dr. Marlon Braumann Lea C.
