Violence in Haiti is dangerously affecting U.S. Aviation ⚠ . 3 different U.S. planes have been shot at servicing the the Port-au-Prince airport. First a Spirit plane yesterday where a cabin crew member was injured 🏥 . Then a JetBlue plane earlier today and an American Airlines plane this afternoon. Flights to Port-au-Prince have been suspended by JetBlue for the next 4 days. American Airlines has immediately suspended all flights to and from Haiti. It wouldn't shock me if all flights to Haiti from the U.S. completely stop for at least the next few days/ weeks. Is it possible that just U.S. airlines are being targeted? #immigration #globalmobility #pilots #aviation #haiti #jetblue #americanairlines #spiritairlines
Rightly so! Stop them now
3 times in a week. Oh, is it targeted? Hmm, I dunnooooo, you tell me 🙄
A Spirit Airlines flight approaching Haiti’s Port-au-Prince airport was struck by gunfire on November 11, 2024, amid escalating gang violence in the area. Bullets pierced the plane’s fuselage, injuring a flight attendant. Following this incident, U.S. airlines, including Spirit and American, suspended flights to Haiti, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) imposed a 30-day ban on flights to Haiti due to safety concerns. Gang control and violence in Port-au-Prince have intensified as gangs now control significant areas of the capital. The suspension of flights and closure of key facilities have disrupted daily life in Haiti, affecting schools, businesses, and access to humanitarian aid.
