What do you look for when hiring in Children's residential? 🤔 As a recruiter within the social care sector, I engage with children's residential organisations daily, to discuss what they look for in a candidate. Beyond the essential qualifications and experience, empathy stands as a pivotal attribute. The ability to understand and share the emotions of others can elevate a competent carer to greatness, particularly when working with vulnerable children. 🌟 Individuals who are dependable in managing routine care, behaviour management, and safeguarding, as well as those who can collaborate seamlessly with the entire team are just some of the crucial attributes we look for. 🌍 Social care thrives on collaboration, and adaptability is vital for effectively handling crisis intervention and case management. 🔄 What are your thoughts? What might be a deciding factor when deciding between 2 individuals as good as the other on paper? 👇 #socialcare #hiring #teamwork #empathy #recruitment #childrensservices #vulnerablechildren #careersinhealthcare #jobsearch #communitysupport #socialwork

Should you require experience when identifying candidates for entry level, front line work? If your answer is yes, what types of experience would qualify them? 💠 Work history? That is, they have experience working... ie they've had a job before. 💠 Experience working at an entry level job with the exact same population that your company is serving? 💠 Or maybe, experience demonstrating the skills that you, the employer, expect from all of your employees? Share your thoughts below. In the meantime, here's 6 MUST ASK questions to include in your interview process to help you determine if a candidate has the skills needed to succeed in your entry-level position. ♻️ Repost and follow Envesti Solutions to help improve training for Child Welfare and Human Services employees. #children #families #mentalwellness #traumainformed #humanservices #interview #jobs #hiring #youth #fostercare #nursing #humanresources #HR

Have you ever been frustrated with your employee because they operate as if they don't have any experience? Truth is, most of us have... The irony however is, no one has experience in anything until they do. When hiring someone into entry-level work, consider three things: 🎯 Are they teachable? 🎯 Are they coachable? 🎯 Are they willing to learn? I love the questions provided by Envesti Solutions because it helps the interviewer gain perspective into the mind of the applicant. They can use this information to determine if the incumbent is someone they can teach and coach. ❓ What additional questions do you think should also be included? Comment below... Include these questions during your next interview and let us know how it goes. ♻️ Repost and follow Thompson Charles and Envesti Solutions to improve training and competency for frontline and direct care employees. #mentalwellness #jobsatisfaction #humanservices #nowhiring #childwelfare #trauma #youth #mentalhealth #training #professionaldevelopment

What Makes Us Different from Other Residential Children's Staffing Agencies? "Here are two key reasons why I believe we provide exceptional service to children’s homes: each client is supported by two dedicated back-office professionals—an Account Manager and a Recruiter. Here’s how they work to support your home:" Account Manager: Ensures a deep understanding of your home’s specific requirements, including the type of support needed for young people with challenging behaviors, learning disabilities, and other unique needs. Matches the right support workers to your home based on these needs. Regularly updates your home's coordinator or manager to keep the rota accurate and up-to-date. Provides hands-on training to each staff member attending your home, ensuring they are fully prepared to meet the young people's needs. Recruiter: Remains fully aware of your home's current and future staffing needs. Actively engages with local staffing job boards to ensure a continuous pipeline of experienced residential support workers. Recruits with a fast turnaround, ensuring that your home is never left without the essential staff you require. To ensure the quality of service never drops, no Account Manager or Recruiter is assigned to more than three clients at a time. This allows them to maintain the focus and attention your home deserves. #childrensresidentialhomes #childrenshomeregisteredmanager #supportworkers #ofsted

Before starting Residential Recruitment Four years ago, in the midst of #COVID, I worked 80-hour weeks—starting my mornings caring for elderly residents and ending my days supporting young care leavers in supported living. It was one of the most challenging periods the world has ever faced, but also one of the most rewarding. I saw firsthand the power of stability, teamwork, and a shared sense of purpose in making a difference in people’s lives. Now, in my current role, I help people find jobs where they can thrive, grow, and feel secure. I see how fulfilling it is to be part of a permanent team where every individual plays a role in creating a safe, supportive environment—not just for colleagues, but for the people we care for. This is the heartbeat of making a real impact in the care sector. If you’re thinking about leaving your permanent role for agency work, take a moment to reflect. While agency work can offer flexibility, it also requires you to be highly independent, constantly adapting to new environments without the consistency of a team. Your hours aren’t guaranteed, and you might find yourself missing out on income or traveling long distances to make up shifts. The truth is, it’s hard to feel part of something bigger when you’re always on the move. In a permanent role, you have the chance to build meaningful relationships—not just with the people you care for, but with your colleagues. You become part of a team that supports each other, celebrates wins together, and works through challenges as one. You’ll feel the pride of making a lasting difference, knowing you’re contributing to a stronger, more stable environment where everyone thrives. The impact you can have in a permanent role is unmatched. Being part of a consistent team means you’re not just a worker filling a shift—you’re a key part of a community that provides trust, familiarity, and continuity for those who need it most. Together, you can create change that truly matters. If you’re looking to make a difference, stay connected, and be part of something bigger, there’s no better place to do that than within a permanent role. The power of teamwork is incredible—and so is the difference YOU can make. ✨Contact me if you are looking for a new beginning! ✨ #TeamworkMakesTheDreamWork #CareCommunity #MakeADifference #PermanentRole #CareSectorPride #EmpowerOthers #StrongerTogether #BuildingFutures #CompassionInAction #CareWithPurpose #PermanentRoles
