Heat kills more than twice as many people as hurricanes and tornados combined, the National Weather Service estimates, yet it receives much less attention. With 2024 having a high chance of being the hottest year on record, what are some ways that we can beat the heat and still be environmentally conscience? 🥵 Exploration into alternate adaptive solutions is needed, particularly in #UrbanAreas, as air conditioning is unavailable for most of the developing world and exacerbates the overall climate change crisis. 🌏 ⚠️ 🌿 DT Global's recent blog discusses #NatureBasedSolutions, such as adaptations in urban planning, and how #CoolingCenters could not only open up opportunities for the private sector to use energy-efficient technology, but could also be the difference between life and death for some. ❄️ Learn more here: https://ow.ly/i4XP30sFFVK #IWork4DTGlobal #WeAreDTGlobal #GreenHouseGasReduction #LowEmissionCooling #RenewableEnergy

Although the fact that our weather patterns are changing is not headline news, the rising frequency and severity of extreme weather events are of growing concern. A new era of heightened climate-related hazard risk is emerging. It will require greater collaboration between policymakers, regulators, engineers, and architects to design and build the physical infrastructure and social networks necessary to reduce communities’ and industries’ exposure to catastrophic failures. The change will not happen quickly, but it must happen because Resilience is the new face of sustainability. https://bityl.co/QESZ

🌍 Buildings and Climate Change Adaptation 🌍 Climate change is an undeniable reality that directly impacts our infrastructure. ❗ Did you know? Extreme weather events have significantly increased in frequency over the past 20 years. From 2000 to 2019, there were 7,348 major natural disasters globally, compared to 4,212 in the previous 20 years, marking an 83% increase. This surge in frequency is largely attributed to climate change, which has led to more frequent and severe floods, storms, droughts, wildfires, and heatwaves.
