This came in the mail the other day. Halloween in JULY. Are you kidding me?!? The peddling of holidays so far in advance by brands and retailers is SO flipping annoying. Anyone with me? However as a retail marketer you better be planning for the busy Q4 holidays NOW. It doesn't mean you have to breakout the ghosts, pumpkins & skeletons in the store. But start talking to vendors and thinking about your holiday promotions BEFORE they're upon you. Traditional retail plans their weekly & bi-weekly & monthly promotions 52-weeks (one YEAR!) in advance. That's much too lofty of a goal for an immature industry like cannabis. So break it down and start with something that's more doable: Start with 2 weeks in advance, then progress to 4 weeks, then 8, then 12. I won't lie. It takes discipline and practice. But I promise, you'll leave the chaos and stress behind and feel more in control. This planning will put you, retail ops, and your loyalty comms ahead of the game. Be the hero. How’s your Christmas shopping going? I’m in a Christmas sprint—fingers crossed it stays that way! I’m determined to trade the chaos for Christmas movies, family time, and all the cozy vibes this year. Christmas shopping: Magic or mayhem? Honestly, it’s always a little of both. Every year, I start with the best intentions—thoughtful gifts, soaking in the holiday spirit—but somehow it turns into a caffeine-fuelled, last-minute dash to the finish line. Not this time. (At least, that’s the plan!) This year, I’m keeping it simple: no stress, no chaos, just a little calm planning so I can actually enjoy the season—good food, cozy nights, and time with the people I love most. And as December starts to get closer and closer, we might be starting to think about the festive season and all the preparations that come with it. So here's a few things you might want to think about to get ready for the festive season! 🎄 When are you taking time off? Have you communicated that to your clients and customers? 🎄 Are you running any promotions or launching anything new ahead of the festive season? Do you need to promote them now? 🎄 Are you sending gifts or cards to clients, customers, small business friends? Have you checked posting dates? Do you need any ideas? 🎄 Do you need to book travel for any trips or parties, whether they're work related or otherwise? It may feel a little early to think about these things, but the sooner we think about them, the sooner we can think about how we're going to spend our well deserved time off!
