👩💼As the COO of Flowcarbon, I'm constantly inspired by the incredible women working in #sustainability and driving positive change. It's truly remarkable to witness the rise of women in leadership positions within the field of sustainability, and I firmly believe that their presence is crucial for representation and progress. 🗞️ BBC News notes this rise too, noting that female #CSOs surpassed the 50% mark in 2020 and were holding more than half (54%) of CSO positions by 2021. Moreover, the presence of women in sustainability leadership roles outside the C-suite also continues to grow steadily. Sustainability jobs, including the role of CSO, are offering women a new path to high-ranking positions, providing women with an opportunity to make a real difference within the corporate world. These new positions are not bound by traditional gender stereotypes, allowing women to excel and leverage their passion, talent, and skills to address climate change and drive meaningful business outcomes. Of course, there are still challenges to overcome. Women in sustainability roles face similar barriers to advancement as women in other leadership positions, such as the "broken rung" phenomenon, which often sidelines them from management positions that lead to higher leadership roles. Additionally, the gender gap in the green talent pipeline remains a concern. While women have been joining the "green" talent pool at a higher rate than men, the growth is still too slow to close the widening gap. Two-thirds of the green talent pool is male, and the gender gap has increased by 25% in the past seven years. To address this, we need to empower and equip women with the skills they need to excel in sustainability leadership roles and ensure a diverse and inclusive talent pipeline. Women in sustainability, what do you think? Is this the way to rise fast in an organisation, or a poisoned challice that the men won't touch? One thing we see is that these roles often come with a lack of hard-power, and a lack of real budget. The savviest operators here know how to navigate using soft-power, influencing and collaborating across teams to unlock resources. https://lnkd.in/ghj7bzK4

✨ Thrilled to share reflections from our founder, Axelle Ahanhanzo, on the recent Women of the Future Programme event held in London, where she was honored as one of the 50 Global Rising Stars in ESG! 🌍 The panel discussion hosted by the Financial Times's Global Head of DEI, Rukasana Bhaijee brought together inspiring changemakers like Julieta Martínez Oyarzún from Fundación Tremendas, Laura Jardine Paterson from CONCAT Tech, Esther Leferink from Rabobank and Belinda Ng from ERM, to address the vital role of women in driving ESG initiatives. Here are some key takeaways that resonated deeply with Axelle: 1️⃣ ESG as a Value Creator: It’s essential to view ESG not merely as a cost, but as a powerful investment in our future. As women, we hold the potential to lead this charge, shaping a world that prioritizes equity and sustainability. 2️⃣ The Power of Data: Both qualitative and quantitative data are crucial for transparency in ESG. We must tell our stories while grounding them in metrics that demonstrate impact and foster accountability. 3️⃣ Youth Engagement: The voices of young leaders are more important than ever. Co-creating solutions with them ensures that we are addressing the challenges of tomorrow, today. As LAUDACE continues to advocate for an intersectional DEI approach to ESG efforts, we are inspired by the incredible women who are paving the way for a more equitable world. Let’s harness this momentum and collaborate towards a future where everyone thrives! 💪💖 🔗 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/eKi4MqB3 #WomenOfTheFuture #ESG #InclusiveLeadership #Inclusion #LAUDACE #DEI #SocialImpact
