On Wednesday, I spent an excellent evening at a #fundraising event organised by Woop Woop and Tir Pontypridd. TP are a #community group aiming to raise funds for the purchase of land in the Pontypridd area; land that will be used for #biodiversity and #wellbeing purposes. Also attended by Tir Natur – a #charity created to purchase and #rewild land in bio-depleted uplands of Mid #Wales – we watched the excellent @kneppestate documentary and contemplated the possibilities for returning a greater balance to our use of land, our consideration of #nature and the utilisation of natural resources. The Q&A session was particularly inspirational. I am of course, horribly biased. This is a subject that is close to my heart and colours my thinking. I absolutely believe that with a little #creativity, #imagination and #commitment, #businesses can play an incredibly active part in both the #dialogue and in making things happen. As businesses we make choice after choice that affect our local and wider #communities, with decision making that is often accidentally naïve. To broaden clear opportunities, we just need that heady mix of the right crowd, the right ideas and constructive #conversation (leading to expert #conservation) to nudge/push/pull/drag (delete as applicable) things in the right direction. It was an excellent opportunity to share these ideas and broaden networks. Big thanks to all involved. Rewilding Britain

As we continue our work in the Bahamas and in other areas impacted by crisis- we are looking to restore mangroves. How do they connect to our work increasing food security- well- mangroves are amazing:) without them so many species of marine life struggle to find safe spawning habitats. (Let alone the fact that they are carbon sequestering powerhouses and help build land mass). In coastal communities where fishing is one of the main industries and source of food- mangroves play a vital role. #bahamas #mangrove #sustainability #fishing #foodsecurity #blueatlas

We're just 4 days away from the Weston-super-Half in aid of Project Seagrass. Many of the population aren't in the know when it comes to seagrass, which is why we are fundraising and sharing important facts along the way, please give, if you can, to our fundraiser for Project Seagrass (link in comments). Seagrasses only occupy 0.1% of the seafloor yet are responsible for 18% of organic carbon buried in the oceans. Seagrass meadows are able to store carbon in their sediment, essentially ‘locking’ away large amounts of carbon and acting as a carbon store. Help protect seagrass meadows by supporting our fundraiser for Project Seagrass. #fundraising #seagrass #projectseagrass #climatechange #climateaction #climatecrisis #justgiving #halfmarathon

As the end of financial year approaches, consider donating to TreeProject. Your donations will help us to continue our work in restoring Victoria’s native environment and help us sow the seeds for a sustainable future. Just $10 can assist in capturing carbon Trees are an important tool in our fight against climate change. As they grow, they pull carbon out of the atmosphere and lock it away in a process known as carbon sequestration. With this donation, you can start to mitigate your personal or business carbon footprint; the more seedlings you support, the greater your carbon sequestration. I am really excited about Severn River Association's #oysterrestoration program this summer! It's kicking off next month in three big ways: 1) We are putting in 10 MILLION #oysters on our #restoration reef at Traces Hollow 2a with the help of our partners Oyster Recovery Partnership -- and with YOUR HELP (see the match grant alert below): https://lnkd.in/g9UgCMY7 2) Our #MarylandersGrowOysters program participants will be planting their home-grown oysters on a different area of Traces Hollow starting June 1. SRA has the largest MGO program with over 300 households growing oysters in cages off of docks/piers for nine months while the spat on shell grow big and strong enough for planting on a #reef. 3) With our boat Sea Girl finally repaired and back in the water, we will be fitting her with a newly designed instrument. Late this summer that instrument will pump oyster #larvae onto yet another #restorationreef for 'direct setting', a new technique that may be able to supplement (but not supplant) our other restoration techniques. This is thanks to a grant from Chesapeake Bay Trust and the Chesapeake Oyster Alliance. #ConnectProtectRestore #OysterRestoration #SevernRiver #EnvironmentalConservation #OysterReef #MarineConservation #SustainableFuture #EcoFriendly #CommunityImpact #MarylandersGrowOysters #ReefRestoration #SpatOnShell #OysterRecovery #HealthyEcosystems #SupportLocal #NonProfit #ChesapeakeBay #ChesapeakeOysters #OceanHealth #AquaticLife #ConservationEfforts #SeaGirl #InnovationInRestoration #OysterLarvae #RestorationTechniques
MATCH GRANT ALERT! SRA supporter Doug Legum, the founders of our oyster program-board member Ted Delaplaine and former board member Bob Whitcomb-along with board member Jeffrey Schomig are offering to match #GreenGive donations up to $22,000. Our goal this year is $47,000 which would fully fund our large-scale #oysterrestoration planting. We can’t meet this #matchchallenge without YOU! Please help us plant 10 Million spat-on-shell oysters on Traces Hollow 2a sanctuary reef this year to further our vision of a Thriving Severn River by 2050. Early giving is underway. You can be a donor to oyster restoration anytime now through June 5th. https://lnkd.in/gZgNV68E #oysters #restoration #severnrivermd #environmentalrestoration #river #estuary #support #waterquality #MATCHGRANTALERT #GreenGive #OysterRestoration #SaveTheBay #SevernRiver #EnvironmentalConservation #Fundraising #MatchChallenge #DonateNow #RestoreOurWaters #MarineConservation #CleanWater #SustainableFuture #EcoFriendly #SupportLocal #NonProfit #CommunityImpact #HealthyEcosystems #OysterReef #ThrivingSevern2050

We’re excited to be working on ways we can share further on-the-ground content with you all, so you can see directly where your Action Ethiopia donations & support make an impact. 💚 A recent project included working with farmers in Wof Washa to ensure food security by working with them on improved potato seed distribution. 🥔 🌱 Improving food production has been a key feature of the Wof Washa project in order to address Illegal farm expansion and encroachment into the forest which was a major problem at the start of the project. By addressing the diverse, but interconnected challenges, facing people in Wof Washa, we are building strong foundations for long lasting change. 💛 #ActionEthiopia #FoodDistribution #PotatoSeed #UKCharity #WaterEqualsLife #RemoteProjects #Community #SustainableForest #LandManagement #Tourism #Ethiopia #Giving #Humanitarian #Fundraising #NonProfit

🌱 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫: 𝐔𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 🌱 For nearly two years, our pilot Harvest Food Forest at Rubona Public School has been transforming lives! Hear from the head teacher about how Harvest Food Forest project, run by Urban Rewild (that’s me!), has impacted the students, teachers, and the entire community. We’re aiming to raise $16,000 to establish food forests at two schools, but we’re only at $1,000 so far. If we can reach even $8,000, it would be enough to kickstart one school in Amboseli—giving us a solid foundation for the year! Every dollar counts, and 100% of donations go directly to the project. With rising food insecurity, especially as climate change hits hard in Africa, we’re teaching skills that these children can carry beyond the classroom. This isn’t just about growing food—it’s about growing futures. 🌍 Join us! Just $7 (the price of a coffee) can fund several seedlings and help us get started. Together, we’re harvesting hope and life skills for a sustainable future. Donate now and be part of the change! https://lnkd.in/gpRUrBnm Big Life Foundation WaterUps® #HarvestFoodForest #GrowHope #AmboseliSchools #Sustainability #Conservation #SupportEducation #waterups #Biglifefoundation

1% for the Planet is a global network of businesses and environmental organizations united in their commitment to support both people and the planet. Each year, Hapatune dedicates 1% of its sales to charitable causes selected by each team member. This year, Kimo Sanderson, Hapatune’s Technical Director, has also chosen to support the Common Ground Collective. Founded in 2017, CGC is a Maui-based non-profit organization that works to promote food security and economic opportunity through education and capacity-building assistance. To accomplish its mission, CGC provides harvesting and administrative services for agricultural landowners and supplies Maui nonprofit organizations with fresh, local produce to nourish food-insecure populations – a need that is even more acute with the recent Lahaina wildfires displacing so many locals.
