#mentalmonday #holidayselfcare There are two weeks until Christmas, Kwanzaa, and Hanukkah. What that means in terms of self-care is panic buying gifts, getting this shipped in time to reach everyone, planning meals, managing split time between families, and not a lot of time for yourself. Throw in we are in the beginning of flu and cold season. So if you are traveling soon the last thing we want to be is sick, and I can attest that I saw more people coughing in the airport and planes than I have in a hot minute. I generally am good about remembering to take my zinc everyday to not be sick when I get back from a work trip, but between someone coughing in my face on the flight out, the general state of people being sick in the airport, and the busyness of the week- I was not lucky. So I was faced with a weekend of forced downtime and self care, instead of the laundry list of things I need to get done. However, it reiterated the fact that sometimes it is good to just do nothing. We run around of fumes most of the time already and when we throw in a holiday season that just compacts the stress. If you have the chance to take some downtime this week or this weekend do so, before things get to chaotic. You deserve to enjoy the holidays whether you are hosting or being someone's guest. #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthawareness

With just over a week until Christmas and the beginning of Hanukkah, it’s easy to get pulled into many directions, last-minute preparations, and feelings of guilt (“I really should buy so and so a gift” or “I should go ahead and add a couple more side dishes to dinner” or “I should hurry up and volunteer!”). This is when taking a few minutes at the start of each day to set the tone you want to enjoy, remind yourself to take care of yourself, and decide where to set boundaries to protect your well-being can make a big difference in your holiday experience. Let this be a gentle reminder to take a moment now to make a commitment to yourself. Here are a few samples. 🎄A commitment to not buy a gift only because you feel like you have to. 🎄A commitment to experience calm, gratitude and joy. 🎄A commitment to enJOY time with grandchildren and family. 🎄A commitment to share old and new traditions and to savor the moment. 🎄A commitment to get that massage. 🎄A commitment to put you first and not neglect your well-being. 🎄A commitment to stay balanced this season. These commitments might sound familiar. They are personal commitments participants in my BalanceUP for the Holidays program previously made for themselves. I'm sharing this online mini-course at no charge through 12/24/24. The holidays are all about tradition and ritual, like a Christmas or Hannukah dinner. Sure, they’re joyful times—but you know how funny people sometimes can be about getting things “just right” 🤭 Maybe a comment about how challah “should be braided” or who “should” bring the Christmas Pudding because they make it best… When tensions rise and conversations go sideways, remember these two powerful SOI 360 skills to help keep things constructive. → OPPOSE: All about addressing differences productively instead of avoiding them. Consider: 💡 Make Counterproposals: If Uncle Dave insists on making his “world-famous” (but very dry) turkey, offer a kind, clear counteroffer: “How about I try making it myself—that way you don’t have to fire up the oven!” 🧩 Suggest Alternatives: A slightly different tack is to open the door to more options: “We could try a seafood dinner this time, or even vegetarian—what do you all think?” → CLARIFY: Because things go much more smoothly when we nip miscommunications in the bud. Try: ✅ Checking Arrangements Made: Before the work party turns into a logistical mess, confirm the details: “Just to double-check—dinner’s on the company, but we all pay for our own drinks. Right?” 🎁 Confirm expectations: Avoid assumptions about what “should” happen and create shared clarity: “Maximum budget for the Secret Santa is $20. Does that work for everyone?” They work together like Christmas baubles or the different colors of Hannukah fairy lights: Oppose keeps things moving with constructive solutions. Clarify ensures everyone’s on the same page. Together, they turn holiday stress into smoother, more enjoyable moments. What’s one way you could use these skills to navigate the season with ease? 👇 #SOI360 #sphereofinfluence360 #communication #clarity #teamdynamics #holidays #collaboration #bettertogether

We are entering a festive but hectic period of the year. Our holiday schedules often cut into our normal exercise routines. Traveling for long periods of time can leave you feeling stiffness, even pain, in your hips, back, and body from sitting stationary for hours on end. Holiday festivities introduce new stimuli to which our body must adapt such as walking around a new city, standing for hours at a party, or moving and lifting heavy holiday decorations. Whether you will be traveling, hosting guests in your home, or simply navigating the chaos of the season, you can keep your body primed and ready for whatever comes your way this year. We share 5 tips for keeping Egoscue - and healthy, balanced movement - a part of your holiday routine. https://lnkd.in/eB6GxZ2R #posturaltherapy #balancedtherapy

With the holidays already here, it’s a good time to discuss guarding your time. The most common thing I hear from people this time of year is “it’s so busy, but I don’t feel like I'm getting anything done.” Between holiday gatherings, family obligations, and “just trying to squeeze it in before the new year”, your calendar is likely saturated. Use the tips in this blog to help free up more of your time and get the things done you need to get done (while still enjoying all of the holiday festivities).
