The change and adoption of electrical vehicle over fossil fuel type has induced high demand for lithium battery. The ability to design a cost effective lithium battery production line through modular concept will not only provide lower initial capital investment cost but also operation, future expansion (this is crucial as production capacity will increase proportionally to the world demand for lithium powered vehicles) as well as deployment or relocation due to geopolitical issues.
The first lithium battery module project from Morimatsu's Malaysia Plant has been shipped, marking a new chapter in the global strategic layout. With the successful holding of the shipment ceremony for the electrolyte module project manufactured in Malaysia, Morimatsu's Malaysia Plant has reached a historic milestone. As an important fulcrum of Morimatsu's internationalization strategy, the Malaysia Plant has, for the first time, fully covered the E/P/F scope of work, including design, pressure vessels fabrication, key materials and components procurement and module construction. Ensuring quality, the module delivery was completed on the contractually agreed date. This significant achievement not only enhances Morimatsu's reputation and influence in the international market but also lays a solid foundation for us to occupy a favorable position in the global economic landscape. It is particularly worth mentioning that this project, from the Feasibility Study and Basic Engineering to the integrated modular design, procurement and manufacturing (EPF), Morimatsu has fulfilled the commitment to "full life cycle of the project, one-stop solution" service and has been highly recognized by the customer. The project's success is not just a technological breakthrough but also a model of cross-national teamwork in pursuit of common goals. Morimatsu and the client's project team collaborated efficiently. The project team members spanned the United States, South Korea, China and Malaysia to ensure that the project, while using advanced electrolyte production technology, achieved high-quality, low-risk modular delivery on schedule. The project adopts a deep modular construction concept, reducing the total installation cost (TIC), saving construction time and significantly lowering the risk of project construction. In the current competitive market, these factors are critical to the efficiency and effectiveness of project advancement, helping clients to start production on time, seize market opportunities and increase market share. Furthermore, the project is not only a commercial success but also a contribution to sustainable development. Indonesia launched its first #electricvehicle battery plant on Wednesday, President Joko Widodo said, as Southeast #Asian countries move to gain a foothold in the emerging industry. The country, which is the region's largest economy and home to the largest nickel reserve in the world, has been seeking to position itself as a key player in the global electric vehicle supply chain. The plant is a joint venture between South Korean manufacturers #Hyundai Motor Group and #LG Energy Solution (LGES) and can produce up to 10 Gigawatt hours (#GWh) of battery cells every year. Widodo said the plant, located in West Javan town of Karawang, was "the biggest in Southeast Asia". Its opening marked "a new chapter" that underscored the resource-rich nation's ambition to become a global player in the electric vehicle supply chain, Widodo said at the launch. "We have abundant natural resources, but for decades we only exported it in the form of raw materials without added value," he said. "But now with smelters being built, with the electric vehicle battery cell being built, we will become an important global player in the global supply chain for electric vehicles." The plant is part of a $9.8 billion electric vehicle battery deal signed between #Indonesia and LG in 2020. It will produce batteries for Hyundai's electric vehicles, with 50,000 of its Kona Electric SUV expected to be powered by the Indonesian-made battery. Joint venture company PT HLI Green Power is expected to spend $2 billion to raise the plant's capacity to 20 GWh. Hyundai Motor Group executive chairman Euisun Chung said that Indonesia's electric vehicle industry would create new economic opportunities. "This country is the biggest automotive market in Southeast Asia. The vehicles that are produced and sold here are the standard for the Southeast Asian region with 700 million potential customers," he said through an interpreter. "The mineral resources in this country, such as iron and nickel, are important components of the battery that will mobilise millions of electric vehicles in Indonesia."
