My thoughts exactly
Last week, two of my teammates have a conversation about the skills they have and about training new person in future. They asked me what is my opinion about training and sharing my skills and knowledge as experienced staff in this company. They have the opinion that if they have a new staff, the staff should learn by themself as what we have been through previously when we join the company. It was a difficult time. My respond was short but it gives them a point to think about. My respond was in Malay, "tidak berkurangnya ilmu seseorang apabila dikongsi, malah mungkin bertambah". Translated into "A person's knowledge does not decrease when shared, and may even increase". This is what I hold for many years. What is your thought?

Practical experience is essential for developing true competence. I have "tested" some good graduates from both National Vocational Training Centre Malaysia (MLVK - kind a like "City & Guilds") vs local University and found that MLVK based students (once dubbed as "3rd graders" which I despised very much) are far more better and employable . (which may be the reason why "MQA-TVET marriage" took place) While I value academic achievement, there's a significant gap between classroom theory and real-world application. This is especially evident in fields like construction, where hands-on experience is crucial. For instance, many engineering graduates, EVEN those with top qualifications, lack the necessary professional registration (e.g. BOE) which may limit or even disqualify them to sign on crucial technical documentation including drawing. This issue has been a concern of mine for decades, and I've emphasized the importance of professional registration to numerous university students. It's not a matter of you're good with Dean's List (I had faced some "cocky ones" before 😁) it's a matter of complying to the law.

Sementara jenis dan durasi pengalamannya juga tidak main main? Seperti yang dicari perusahaaan adalah karyawan yang sudah siap kerja tanpa banyak mengajari lagi dari awal. Sementara pekerjaannya level clerk yang seharusnya bisa diberikan training lebih dulu sebelum bekerja. Apakah ini karena lowongan pekerjaan sudah masuk kedalam Red Ocean ya? Sehingga saking banyaknya persaingan sehingga rekruiter ada di atas sementara pencari kerja yang memposisikan di pihak yang dieksploitasi dan selalu harus mengikuti syarat perusahaaan. "It's enough if I show up daily to my work, right. And all I ask is they pay me - as promised, on time, every month". Betul, tak salah. We are professionals, office workers being employed to do our jobs, as specified, as per contracted. Datang kerja, buat kerja, balik, collect gaji. Tak salah. But some people. They aspire. They dream of becoming something larger than they are presently. Not everyone wants to become influencer, to create contents, to be famous over the realm of seven social media platforms. Some, wants to work in office. But they are not content to merely exist throughout their career. They wish to lead the rat race. They dream of climbing the proverbial ladder. Hence, they seek to develop themselves. They attend training. They make time for learning. This is also not wrong. It is not a race. It is only you, against yourself.
