🌍 The ecological commons—community forests, pasture lands, and water bodies—constitute a quarter of India's landmass and are vital to over 350 million rural people. Despite increasing commitments to climate action, landscape restoration, and rural livelihoods, these precious resources are degrading at an alarming rate of 4% annually. To address this, we are fostering a system-wide collaborative infrastructure that connects, convenes, and aligns diverse stakeholders for cohesive action. By finding 'common ground,' even without full consensus, we are working towards a sustainable future. The Common Ground Initiative is evolving through the efforts of Asar and 21 partner organizations, with the backing of Living Landscapes, which brings decades of collective experience in building and empowering networks. Let's unite for a resilient future! 🌱 #Sustainability #ClimateAction #EcologicalRestoration #RuralDevelopment #CollaborativeLeadership #EnvironmentalProtection #SustainableDevelopment #CommunityEmpowerment #LivingLandscapes Watch this video to know more https://lnkd.in/gXv4gqyq

💡 Curious about just and regenerative business? It goes beyond ESG and Sustainable business models to embrace nature's power to renew and regenerate, respecting universal rights for all to thrive. 👉🏽 Check out the Forum for the Future report on this approach from 2021: https://lnkd.in/ev3QREi4 Transitioning from ESG and sustainable business models to regenerative business enriches our planet. Yesterday, I joined Tim Frenneaux creator of Pivot Project along with Erinch Sahan for the Pivot 'listening circle', connecting with professionals and exploring visions for regenerative business and society. It's also exciting to hear of the development of case studies around Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL) by Erinch Sahan. 🙏🏽 Change makers and visionaries, consider joining the Pivot Project to shape regenerative business and society visions - together we can help shape solutions. The project involves 'A Year of Listening' and 'Prototyping,' shifting from listening to action. We coincidentally spent world oceans day at Jervis Bay, one of the worlds most beautiful sea-side destinations. Amidst the serene beauty, we were treated to the breathtaking sight of whales breaching the water, a moment that captivated everyone's attention as they reached for their phones, as if to contain a moment of nature in our pockets. It's moments like these that reaffirm our profound connection to this planet and the diverse ecosystems that call it home. But passion for our planet can only go so far, we have to enjoy the process and work it takes to shift direction and transition to a new way of being. For me, this journey has been about embracing: 🌱 The Concept of Emergence: Bringing together diverse expertise and perspectives to uncover innovative solutions. 🔍 Comfort in Uncertainty: Acknowledging that many of our pressing challenges lack clear-cut answers and embracing the unknown with humility. 🤝 Belief in Collective Potential: Through my coaching journey, I've witnessed firsthand the transformative power of individuals supported by the right tools and encouragement. Together, we possess the capacity to reshape our perceptions and, consequently, our actions. As I reflect on this experience, I find myself filled with gratitude and prayer – for a world where compassion drives common sense, where the exploitation of our planet and its people is seen as unjustifiable and uncivilized. Where giving back more than we take is the norm and we recognize ourselves as integral parts of a unified consciousness. #worldoceansday #nature #sustainability #leadership #transformation

My dad was a fan of the simplicity of #3wordweather ‘It’s all you need to know, you don’t need the nitty gritty”. Given that COP29 Azerbaijan will be full of nitty-gritty, complex negotiations and acronyms, I will be summarising each day and the sessions I attend as a virtual attendee with three words: INCLUSIVITY IS ESSENTIAL Working with South Yorkshire Sustainability Centre in support of a sustainable and just transition for the Region, it was fascinating to attend: IRMA, PWYP, ResponsibleSteel: Using IRMA to Advance Environmental and Social Responsibility in Transition Mineral Supply Chains . Told you there are a lot of acronyms… What’s a #justtransition? A just transition is a framework that aims to ensure that the move to a sustainable economy is fair and inclusive. We heard from Ditte Juul Jørgensen, Director-General for Energy of the European Commission. Ditte stated the need for traceability, transparency, monitoring and diversification in EU and global supply and value chains. With an emphasis on working in partnership to develop new, clean trade and investment for an inclusive and sustainable future, it touched on key elements of my role at the The University of Sheffield. A just transition cannot be fully realised without exploring the supply chain…where does what we buy come from and who has its production impacted? A just transition needs to be incorporated into the phase out of fossil fuels, but also the phase in of a more #sustainable future. We need to consider equitable principles when planning for #COP29 commitments in #Baku, to avoid repeating the status quo of the past and present. This includes fair targets across countries and incorporating indigenous perspectives and knowledge systems. To get a sense of the variety of perspectives throughout the world, I recommend ‘The Wayfinders’, a stunning book by Wade Davis:
