If you are at SAE Media Group Energy From Waste Conference today, why not check out our Head of Climate and Energy Policy Charlotte Rule who is speaking on the following Panel Discussion UK Focus: Preparing for the Inclusion of EfW in the Emissions Trading Scheme The confirmation of the inclusion of #EfW facilities in the UK #ETS earlier this year, represents the biggest #policyintervention in the sector since the introduction of #landfilltax. This presentation will explore the current policy environment and provide operators and residual waste customers with an overview of the expected changes to the EfW landscape. 💡 What are the UK ETS Authority suggesting? What are the key policy levers? 💡 What does inclusion by 2028 mean? What is required to ensure this policy drives decarbonisation of the sector. 💡 What is the likely impact on the sector, how can these be mitigated, and how will this link with waste reduction, reuse and recycling? 💡 What should operators be preparing for? What are the new regulations? Moderated by Alban Forster, Director, SLR Consulting Ltd, with additional panellists: ◾ Owen Michaelson, CEO, ENCYCLIS | ◾ Emma Beal, Chief Executive, West London Waste Authority | ◾ Jarno Stet, Secretary, National Association of Waste Disposal Officers (#NAWDO) | ◾ Tony Laing, Team Leader, Scope Expansion Waste, UK Emissions Trading Scheme, Department for Energy Security and Net Zero This session will be insightful and thought provoking, so make sure you dont miss it!!!

Investing every day in innovation: this is our commitment to safeguarding our Planet and the Environment. Today we celebrate the International #EarthDay by focusing on two clear waterborne self sealers from renewable sources. Being formulated with them, the environmental impact, in terms of CO2 emitted during the intire life cycle, is significantly lower. https://lnkd.in/dneV7sFX

Energy recovery from waste is a crucial part of circular economy. Issues on CCS and much more will be a topic on the #Beacon conference November 27-28, Stockholm. Welcome! A recent ex regarding CCS is the #EU Commission’s announcement that Öresundskraft's CCS-project has been selected for financial support from the EU Innovation Fund. Congratulations to Öresundskraft AB! This CCS investment aims to capture and store around 200,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually – a crucial step towards the climate goal of net-zero by 2030. Welcome to discuss this and much more at the conference, where we will highlight energy recovery from a systems perspective, its role in the waste hierarchy and how it can play a positive role in meeting climate challenges. 📢 Over 30 organizations, including ours, have joined forces to send a joint letter to the European Commission urging them to exclude waste incineration from the definition of 'waste heat'. 🔥🚫 It's crucial to combat the lobbying efforts of the waste burning industry, who want to label waste incineration heat as waste heat. This move goes against current legislation and poses numerous environmental and health risks. 🛑 Let's stand together to advocate for a sustainable future and protect our planet! 🌱💪 #SustainableFuture #EnvironmentalProtection #EURegulations https://lnkd.in/gn4J6cHp

A Third of Carbon Credits Fail on New ‘High-Integrity’ Criteria 🚨 Recent evaluations have shown that a third of all carbon credits did not meet the ‘high integrity’ label established by an industry governance body for the voluntary carbon market. 🌍 In this unregulated market, companies purchase credits from global projects like wind farms and reforestation schemes to meet their internal carbon-cutting goals. However, the lack of standardization and varying approaches make it challenging to determine which credits are truly effective. This news underscores the importance of rigorous standards and transparency in the carbon credit market to ensure meaningful environmental impact. 🌱 Learn More: https://lnkd.in/eQzHiie9 #CarbonCredits #Sustainability #ClimateAction #CarbonMarket #GreenInitiatives
