Quick question for you all. Can anyone recommend any ecology, botany, or natural history books by women? I've tried researching and can't find many at all. #BooksByWomen #Ecology #Botany #NaturalHistory

Bold colour, two seeds, one story... Here in my hand are seeds from two very different trees. What they have in common is their relationship with birds. Bright reds and oranges are highly visible to birds. The brightly coloured portions of these seeds are called arils. They both contain nutritious oils that birds want. The smaller seed is from a tree called a Wild Banana; the larger one is from a Pod Mahogany. #fieldguide #natureguide #botany #ecology #ecotraining

Autumn flowering crocus, Colchicum autumnale, is now visible. This cheerful flower is toxic so look but don't touch. Also known as meadow saffron, this is not a true crocus. #botany #biodiversity #gardens #flowers #ecology #environment #nature #linkedinforcreators

An interesting characteristic of many woody #invasive species present in Northeast Ohio is extended leaf phenology...when compared to native species, they leaf out earlier in the growing season and hang onto their leaves later. This can provide the invasives with a leg up on photosynthesis and a competitive advantage over native taxa. I snapped this photo yesterday while on a hike along the Ohio Erie Canal Towpath Trail adjacent to the Cuyahoga River. Woody invasives present in the understory of this photo (essentially, everything that still has leaves) include: -Acer platanoides (Norway maple) -Ligustrum vulgare (privet) -Rosa multiflora (multiflora rose) -Lonicera tatarica (Tatarian honeysuckle) #ecology #environment #nativespecies #forest #nature #recreation #rivers #ohio #plants #botany

#BHUResearchFlash A team of researchers from the Department of Botany, Institute of Science, #BHU, has carried out a study that investigates the use of Trichoderma-mediated defense priming in barley under drought stress conditions. The results reveal that Trichoderma-primed barley exhibits heightened tolerance to drought stress compared to non-primed barley. The findings of the study are published in the renowned journal Environmental and Experimental Botany. The team of researchers comprises Dr. Prashant Singh, Ms. Menka Tiwari, Ms. Bandana Devi, Ms. Shivangi Sinha, and Ms. Nidhi Yadav. Delving into the pressing issue of climate change and its detrimental effects on agroecosystems and crop productivity, the work underscores the potential of Trichoderma priming as a cost-effective strategy to enhance barley production amidst environmental challenges. The priming defense approach offers an intelligent plant health management solution devoid of adverse environmental or yield-related implications.
