Water-based recreation is a great way to stay cool in warm weather, but any program engaging kids with swimming or other water sports should be prepared to keep them safe. The Leadership Advisory Council with Make-A-Wish Michigan is still looking for sponsors for our 3rd Annual Golf Outing at Thornapple Point on August 5th! If you're not familiar with Make-A-Wish Michigan (MAWM). MAWM makes wishes come true for children with a critical illness across the state of Michigan. A few fun facts: 💸 Every dollar raised in Michigan stays in Michigan. ⏳ A child is diagnosed with a critical illness every 20 minutes. 🏥 An estimated 800+ children will be diagnosed with a critical illness this year. 💫 While doctors provide the medicine, Make-A-Wish Michigan supplies the magic that provides a positive life-changing experience. 👨⚕️ Most notably, 75% of surveyed doctors said a wish could improve a child’s medical outcomes. ⭐ While each wish is truly unique, most fall into one of five categories: I wish to be, I wish to go, I wish to have, I wish to meet, and I wish to give. GoGoosey is my friend's company. She creates a quick-drying onesie that means you don't have to dress and change your kids after the pool, swimming pool, or splash park. If you are a parent, this is an obvious Godsend for easily the worst part about taking your kids from a swim. But now she has launched a Kickstarter because adults (surfers, swimmers, paddleboarders, etc.) also can't be bothered to get changed after their sport. So here it is - the Kickstarter for her unique onesie for women (men's version comes later). Launching a new physical product line in a burgeoning business is incredibly difficult. Supporting this Kickstarter, basically by pre-ordering the onesie, will allow her to add a product line to the successful kid's products and help the business go to the next level. Why do we push ourselves? What drives us to keep going, even when the odds feel impossible? For me, im competitive whether that's in business in in my personal life. The latter is consumed by running and my nemesis is the marathon, it's more than just a race — it’s a test of resilience, preparation, and purpose. My first London Marathon in 2018 was humbling, filled with setbacks and struggles. Since then, every race has taught me valuable lessons about perseverance and growth. This year, I’m running the 2025 London Marathon to raise funds for the The National Autistic Society, a cause deeply personal to me and my family as my eldest daughter was diagnosed when she was 7. Hello, At the İda Ultra Marathon, I am running with KEDV for women who are struggling with the difficulties brought on by the deepening economic crisis. I am running because the solidarity we will show today is needed more than ever for women who wake up every morning with the difficulties brought on by the economic crisis and struggle for a fairer and more equal life to access the income they need. I call on you to be with us with your support and get stronger together. Why I Run for Women? Because women and children are the most affected by crises. I believe that the deepening economic crisis will have a lasting and sustainable impact on women's development by bringing women together and bringing their own experiences to this process. The economic crisis has hit cooperatives in Turkey hard. Many women lost their jobs and had to close their small businesses. Today, we all have a duty to show solidarity with women who are fighting against all odds, both for themselves and for everyone around them... Why KEDV? For 38 years, KEDV has been fighting against poverty together with women through different and creative solutions. It will support women's cooperatives affected by the economic crisis with expertise, training, financing, product/business development and marketing activities so that the women it works with can generate income again.
