At Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust, our sites are the final resting place for many Australian servicepeople, and we are privileged to honour their legacy. Remembrance Day is always an important day of commemoration, and this year events were held at both Springvale Botanical Cemetery and Brighton General Cemetery to remember and honour the sacrifices of service personnel. 😺🐶HAPPY HERITAGE DAY FROM A RESCUE ORG🐾 Definition of Heritage: the history, traditions, practices, etc. of a particular country, society, or company that exist from the past and continue to be important: - The heritage of a system that has not protected 1000's of animals in KZN has left so many animals in vulnerable situations. - That system has become a practice many have adopted when dealing with our animals. - A society can be judged by the treatment of its most vulnerable, and the traditions we teach our children determine the cycle. - We are ALL a reflection of the Heritage the next generation will be governed by. Today SAFE asks you to make a pledge - a pledge to be part of changing the Heritage for animals in KZN. Because EVERY life SHOULD matter And we can ALL make the world kinder ONE action at a time.

Check out this #fundingopportunity! In 2024, 10 biosphere-focused projects were funded under the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership's Conservation and Community interpretive theme. In 2026, the Making of Nations interpretive theme encourages multi-jurisdictional or regional projects that focus on concepts, innovations, or movements that have had lasting regional, national and global effects in addition to projects that support the interpretation and commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution in 2026. What #revolutionaryideas do you have for the biosphere region?
The Patrick Leahy Lake Champlain Basin Program (LCBP) seeks pre-proposals for projects and programs to protect, restore, interpret, and showcase the historical resources and cultural heritage of the Champlain Valley and the Lake Champlain Basin. The projects supported through this process will advance the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership’s (CVNHP) Making of Nations interpretive theme in 2026, emphasizing the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. When history and hazard mitigation meets…
Partial removal of the Ville de Vanier wreck which ran aground more than 40 years ago in Lac Leamy, Gatineau, Quebec, has been completed by our Marine Environmental and Hazards Response team. The wreck no longer poses a hazard in its current state. Some of the wreck’s remains will be exhibited at the Musée Maritime de Charlevoix. The operation took a few weeks to complete and was a success. Here’s the story of a vessel that has had a lifetime! 👏
