Today is International Men’s Day, a moment to celebrate the positive contributions men make to our workplaces, families, and communities. It’s also an opportunity to reflect on the importance of recognition, inclusion, and mutual support in the workplace. In busy professional environments, it’s easy to focus on outcomes and deadlines, but let’s not forget the power of acknowledging one another—whether it’s through celebrating achievements, supporting each other during challenges, or simply checking in. Recognition fosters a sense of belonging, boosts morale, and strengthens team dynamics. On a lighter note, thanks, Mary and Fay for the surprise avocado socks! Hopefully not an underlying message about me being an avo (jokes)! 🤔🤣😆 On this day, let’s also remember that promoting well-being, equality, and open conversations benefits everyone, not just men. By recognising and valuing all voices in the workplace, we create an environment where everyone can thrive. Take a moment today to show appreciation for a colleague, celebrate their contributions, or start a conversation about how we can better support each other. Small acts of recognition go a long way. How are you marking International Men’s Day in your workplace? #InternationalMensDay #Recognition #DiversityAndInclusion #Culture #Team #Hotels

Celebrating International Men’s Day: A Time for Reflection and Appreciation Today, November 19th, we celebrate International Men’s Day, a global event that recognizes the contributions and achievements of men in various spheres of life—be it as leaders, mentors, caregivers, or change-makers. It’s also an opportunity to reflect on the challenges men face and how we can create a more inclusive and supportive society for everyone. This year’s theme focuses on promoting positive male role models and raising awareness about men’s well-being. In a world where societal expectations often define masculinity narrowly, it’s important to acknowledge that strength lies in empathy, kindness, and vulnerability as much as in resilience and determination. Why International Men’s Day Matters Men contribute to our lives in so many ways—as fathers, brothers, partners, colleagues, and friends. However, while celebrating these roles, we must also highlight some of the unique challenges men encounter: Mental Health: Men are often expected to “be strong” and suppress their emotions, leading to underreported cases of mental health struggles. Let’s encourage open conversations and normalize seeking help. Work-Life Balance: Just like women, men too face pressures of balancing career ambitions with family responsibilities. Breaking stereotypes around caregiving roles can create more equitable opportunities. Role Models: It’s vital to showcase men who inspire others not just through professional success, but also through their integrity, compassion, and dedication to making the world a better place. How We Can Support Create Safe Spaces for Dialogue: Whether at work or in our personal lives, let’s foster environments where men feel comfortable discussing their challenges. Challenge Stereotypes: Celebrate men for their individuality, not just for conforming to traditional ideas of masculinity. Advocate for Health: Encourage regular health check-ups and support awareness campaigns for physical and mental well-being. A Personal Reflection On this day, I reflect on the men who have influenced my journey—mentors who guided me, friends who supported me, and family members who exemplified unwavering strength and love. I am grateful for their contributions and inspired to help build a society where every man feels valued for who they are. A Call to Action Let’s use International Men’s Day as a reminder to appreciate the men in our lives, recognize their achievements, and advocate for their well-being. Together, we can build a world where everyone—regardless of gender—can thrive. To all the men out there: Happy International Men’s Day! Your efforts, struggles, and successes are seen and celebrated. How are you marking this day? Let’s spark a conversation! Share your thoughts in the comments.

After a much needed and wholly welcomed two week hiatus from work, it was back to London with a boom. Delighted to have been invited by the Secretary of State for Business and Trade and Minister for Women and Equalities Kemi Badenoch to the launch of the Inclusion at Work Panel report into improving workplace diversity and inclusion schemes at the Royal Society of the Arts by ( full report here: https://lnkd.in/e5FQcaDj). ⭐️ a panel was made up of private and public sector experts, and was advised by a leading Professor at Harvard University with looking at the latest research to understand how employers in Britain are applying EDI, and how to help them improve their practice. ⭐️ the goal : that diversity and inclusion should never put any individual or group at a disadvantage, and should never damage cohesion and morale in the workplace. The recommendations in brief were: 🔴 The government endorses a new framework which sets out criteria employers might apply to their D&I practice to embed effectiveness and vallue for money. 🟢 The government funds, and works with,. research parnter to develop a digital tool similar to the EEF's 'Teaching and Learning Toolkit' to access rigour, efficacy and value for money of a range of D&I practices. 🟣 The EHRC explains and clarifies the legal status for emplooyers in relation to D&I practice, with particular focus on the implication of recent rulings for HR policies and staff networks. I do not think it is possible to over exaggerate the importance that this paper might and could have for anyone and everyone whose work and life touches upon D&I, which is most of us, as it should be. There is scope for this to be beneficial to all and I for one am awaiting the recommendations with interest and impatience. What are your thoughts? Lorraine Thomas, it was lovely to see a familiar face in the room, and how great to meet in person for the first time. Ama Ocansey delighted to meet you and find our overlap was a love ofJapan! Charissa King and Honey Jane Wyatt super to meet you both - amazing wingwomen ⭐️ thank you.

Unpacking the Bias Between International Women’s Day and International Men’s Day! Every year, International Women’s Day (March 8) sparks a wave of posts, campaigns, and celebrations across LinkedIn and beyond. Meanwhile, International Men’s Day (November 19) often passes by quietly, with far fewer mentions or engagement. This contrast raises an important question: Are we unintentionally reinforcing biases through the way we celebrate these days? Let’s look at some data: • A quick search on LinkedIn reveals over 10x more posts tagged with #InternationalWomensDay compared to #InternationalMensDay. • Surveys show that while 80% of workplaces recognize International Women’s Day through events, only 20% do the same for International Men’s Day. • Media coverage around women’s achievements during their day is significantly higher, whereas conversations about men’s mental health, work-life balance, and other critical issues often get overlooked. Both days are important, and neither should overshadow the other. Women’s Day emphasizes gender equity and celebrates progress, while Men’s Day creates space to discuss challenges like mental health, high suicide rates, and the pressures of traditional masculinity. As we move forward, let’s aim for a balance. Celebrating one day doesn’t diminish the other—it complements it. Let’s ensure both genders have platforms for recognition and critical dialogue. What are your thoughts? How can we create equal engagement for both days to foster understanding and inclusivity? Share your views below!

It’s International Men’s Day today, and yet… have you noticed how few posts there are compared to International Women’s Day? It makes me wonder: why is this day barely acknowledged? Let’s face it, we’re missing an opportunity here—not just to celebrate men, but to engage them in the critical conversations that shape our world. Conversations about diversity, equity, and leadership. Conversations that don’t just benefit women but enrich everyone at the table. Here’s the thing: I work in a very male-dominated industry. It’s a landscape many would call “traditional.” But even in my office, which has a fair mix of women, I’m not sure we always check in with our male peers in the same way we do with women. Yet the stats are sobering. Men account for three out of every four suicides globally and often face societal pressures to bottle up emotions and “man up.” As someone raising both a daughter and a son, I think about this all the time. My daughter deserves to grow up confident and strong, but so does my son. He deserves to grow up empathetic, progressive and supported to express vulnerability without judgment. Leadership isn’t just about who’s in the room—it’s about how the room operates. It’s about creating spaces where people feel valued, heard, and able to contribute fully. Over the past six months, I’ve been exploring what truly drives high-performing teams, and one thing stands out: cognitive diversity and psychological safety are essential. But here’s the catch—those qualities can’t exist if even part of the room feels overlooked or unsupported, regardless of gender. So today, I want to acknowledge the men—our colleagues, partners, brothers, and friends—who often work behind the scenes to drive change, challenge outdated systems, and support inclusion. Let’s make sure they know they’re seen, valued, and encouraged to keep pushing for better. Because here’s the truth: If we’re walking forward together, doesn’t that mean we’re already on the same side... #InternationalMensDay #positiverolemodels #Leadership #Empathy #Diversity The LCap Group

International Men's Day: A Reality Check Today is International Men's Day—a day to appreciate men and acknowledge their struggles. But are we truly aware of the challenges men face daily while balancing their dreams, responsibilities, and emotions? In our society, men's issues are often overlooked. They rarely express their feelings because doing so is often seen as a sign of weakness. If a man is unemployed, unmarried, or doesn't have financial resources, society often disrespects him. The environment we’ve created forces men to silently endure their battles, with no space to express themselves. The Burden of Traditional Mindsets Outdated beliefs and narrow mindsets have kept us from allowing the younger generation to live on their own terms. Instead, we impose our life experiences and views on them, often filled with negativity, restrictions, and doubts. This limits their potential to explore life and grow in a supportive environment. It's Not Just About Men Women face similar struggles, with societal norms stopping them from openly expressing their thoughts and feelings. Whether men or women, both deserve the freedom to voice their emotions and opinions without fear of judgment. What Can We Do? It’s time to rethink and transform our approach: 1. Foster Open Conversations: Encourage men and women to share their thoughts and emotions freely. 2. Give Respect: Treat unemployed or financially struggling men with dignity. 3. Support the Next Generation: Instead of imposing limitations, help them explore life and reach their potential. The Bigger Picture International Men's Day or Women's Day is not just about celebrating one day; it’s about introspection and bringing real change. The question is: are we creating an environment at home and within families where everyone can live their truth and chase their dreams without fear? Let’s work together to build a society where men and women can thrive, support each other, and live with dignity and freedom. #InternationalMensDay #MenMatterToo #SupportAndRespect #BreakTheStigma #EmpathyForAll
