I am surprised and shocked (but not really) that this project even mentions a new base area (despite still not being able to staff 60%+ of needed staff now) that includes restaurants, bars, and shops et al...seriously? The article mentions at the very end "some employee housing"...really? Essentially no housing, out-of-control cost of living/housing (for what is there), can't staff 100% now but building more infrastructure, benefits are being cut for employees, and to make it all worse now you want to add more infrastructure with little employee housing and outsource critical roles like HR, IT et al...SERIOUSLY? What the h*#* are you all thinking? Wow guys, do better!!!

Big congrats to Elise Ecklund, our Project Manager of Pre-construction and Estimating, who recently celebrated her 5th anniversary at Hotel Rehabs! 🥳 🎉 We caught up with her to chat about her journey and got some great insights. 🏨: Why the Construction Industry, specifically?  👷♀️: I changed careers after 24 years in another industry and fell into this industry by accident, but I really enjoy it. It turns out that the skills I had built over my previous career were a great match for what I’m doing now! 🏨: What is one of your best memories from working at Hotel Rehabs? 👷♀️: I don’t know if I can pick just one! We’ve had so many great team bonding events, and even just little moments throughout the day. Renovating hotels is hard, so when we can find moments to laugh together, that’s the best. 🏨: What is your favorite project you have ever worked on at Hotel Rehabs? 👷♀️ This is a tough one – I always feel like a protective mother about the projects I work on. I would say I’m really proud of the Home2 Suites conversion we did for Dora Hospitality at Keystone Crossing in Indianapolis, and we also gave a major upgrade to the Hilton Garden Inn in Burlington, MA for Arbor Lodging! 🏨: What do you envision for yourself in the next 5 years of your career? 👷♀️: Lots more hotel renovations! Some of the projects we work on are wonderfully complex with lots of challenges, and I really like working with this team to meet those challenges. 🏨: What advice do you have for professionals looking to make a career change into construction? 👷♀️: Please come on in – this industry needs all the smart people it can get. Transforming an industry

As many of you know, Dan & I bought The New Glarus Hotel with a small group of investors. 🏨 (If you didn't know that...surprise! We're hoteliers.🎊 🥳) And something I've been thinking about a lot lately as we've been getting ready to undertake the restoration of the hotel is how easy it would be to just...start it over. Knock it down & start fresh. 😬 But that's not what we're here to do. We see ourselves as stewards of this property. ☺️ Of this history. We have a responsibility to talk with the community & hear the stories, the love ❤️ , & the importance of this project. What it means for the people who call this place home.🏡 It's the ultimate "Yes, AND" project. Yes, we're committed to lovingly restoring this property AND we're also putting our own spin, our own modern touches on things. Because that's what's needed. To truly move forward into the next era, we need to blend the past & the future. That's what it's like at organizations, too. When we go into companies & do culture work, we're usually going into cultures that have existed for 5, 10, 20, 50 years. Would it be easier to say, "Hey, we're going to start over with your culture & create one from scratch!"? 🤔 Maybe? Maybe not. 🤷♀️ Again: that's not what we're there to do. We're there to blend the new & the old. What they love & what might work better. We're not looking to rebuild 🛠️...we're looking to build on top of the strong foundation 💪 that's already there.
