Great discussion at the 74th Koningswinter conference this week, which brings together Germany and the UK to discuss and collaborate on the big issues facing us today.   Our CEO Jorge Pikunic spoke on the energy and climate panel and shared his view on how we accelerate progress to net zero in a way that is affordable for families and businesses. His key points were: 1️⃣ A successful energy transition must meet three tests: deliverability, affordability, and security of supply. 2️⃣ We need to continue to accelerate the deployment of renewables but another critical challenge we need to tackle is flexibility. How do we ensure we have reliable power that can be ramped up and down to address the intermittency of renewable energy? 3️⃣ One easy win to meet the three tests is to use, reuse and adapt the infrastructure and assets we already have today - such as our existing power plants #energytransition

New rotors, a sustainable tower manufacturing plant, and a production line for next-generation wind power drivetrains. 💡 These are some of the innovative wind projects funded by the European Union through the latest call of the Innovation Fund. "Solar Package I" has revolutionized the way solar energy projects are approached in Germany. With its recent enforcement, a precedent has been set for integrating nature conservation with renewable energy development. This innovative policy ensures that at least three of the five key environmental criteria are met, for ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) installations to receive financial support under the German Renewable Energies Act (EEG). With almost twice as much renewable generation capacity as can be used locally, green hydrogen is set to become a staple of the Schleswig-Holstein energy transition.
