Our article entitled "Ethical Issues in Implementation Science: A Qualitative Interview Study of Participating Clinicians" is now available. Implementation studies present ethical issues that traditional research ethics frameworks and concepts do not address so we have begun to address this gap by presenting the results of interviews with clinicians working at sites currently participating in an implementation study seeking to improve patient handoffs to the intensive care unit (ICU). We use the concerns of these clinicians to reflect on the ethical questions related to informed consent. https://lnkd.in/e3QiSgu6

⌛️🧠 The Challenge: Ethics & Psychedelics in Psychiatry When looking at the psychedelic therapy process, some burning questions come to mind: · What is informed consent? · Does supportive touch have a role in therapy? · Is clinician psychedelic drugs experience mandatory? The end goal is patient harm prevention before harm reduction. Pundits in psychiatry are now calling for guidelines that can protect the patient in its journey. Further reading can be found in the APA post below. Addressing these and other questions about the ethical challenges of psychedelic treatment is paramount. Taking this major step brings clarity, peace of mind, and implicit trust in the process so patient outcomes can be transformative. #mentalhealth #biotech #psychedelicmedicine #brainhealth #psychiatry $BETR: CSE $BETRF: OTCQB Psychiatric News Psychology Today Psychedelic Alpha World Health Organization American Psychiatric Association American Psychological Association Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience

🧿 Like a converging prism point, medical ethics is the intersection of medicine, the law, public health, science, the healthcare industry, education, the humanities, communication & technology. A dispersed wave of white light perceived 👀as a ✔️ROY.G.BIV continuous spectrum happens as the light changes direction along a transparent glass prism... What are initially perceived as *universal moral tenets* accepted at face value, are actually dynamic intersecting assumptions, core values & ethical principles underpinning our freedoms & the dignity of human beings... By publicly advocating for core values like fairness, compassion, integrity, empathy, stewardship & professionalism in our day to day conversations-- we promote our communication community-standard. Values & principles in clinical practice 'help us bend & direct light along wavelength-dependent paths that can be perceived as visible &/or audible,' instead of 'lost in interpretation.' Medical ethics principles like: autonomy, non-maleficence, beneficence & social justice enable communication, & especially when ethical dilemmas interfere with desired outcomes. To grow sustainable socially just systems, we need to engage in conversations about who unilaterally benefits & who assumes risks for the collective-- while minding race, ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, disability & religion as perceived wavelengths of visible light... #medicalethics #clinicalethics #mededucation #communication #transparency #lacmalacba #communitystandards #thehastings https://lnkd.in/gaQSj6yS

📌 Ethical standards are crucial in clinical research, as they ensure that the studies are reliable and beneficial. At the Journal of Clinical Medical Research, we put the safety and well-being of participants first. ⚡ We make sure that everyone involved knows exactly what they're signing up for, keep their personal information safe, and have independent experts oversee our work. These steps are vital to our promise of doing research with the highest standards of ethics. 💡 With researchers from around the world, we're committed to building trust and doing research that truly matters. 📣 Come and join us in supporting ethical research that respects and protects the people who help make medical breakthroughs happen. #EthicalResearch #ClinicalTrials #MedicalEthics #ClinicalMedicalResearch

Protecting Participants Is Not the Top Priority in Clinical Research. That is the title of a Viewpoint I wrote that just got published in JAMA. The title is of course an accurate statement of the ethical and regulatory principles that apply to clinical research. Unfortunately, the Declaration of Helsinki, widely considered to be the "'cornerstone' document pertaining to medical research ethics," prominently says just the opposite: that the goal of generating new knowledge "can never take precedence over the . . . interests of individual research subjects." As I explain in my piece, this misstatement by the Declaration causes real harm to our efforts to ethically conduct clinical research. On the 60th anniversary of the Declaration this month, it is appropriate to seriously think about correcting this misstatement, so that the Declaration can continue to play a positive role in making clinical research more ethical. 🎓 I am happy to share that I completed the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans (TCPS 2: CORE 2022)-based Research Ethics Course back in March! This is a key clinical research certificate and should be completed if working on clinical research involving humans. The course has given me lots of important skills regarding ethical conduct in research. 🔬 #clinicalresearch #clinicalresearchcertificate #EthicalResearch #ContinuousLearning #ResearchEthics #TCPS2CORE2022

This paper was a collaborative effort with the medical ethics and law research center of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. Non-communicable disease risk can be modified by engaging in physical activity. Using the Ottawa Charter framework, this study explored responses to low physical activity due to gender inequity. Factors affecting physical activity in women were examined based on Ottawa Charter strategies, focusing on promoting knowledge, beliefs, and attitudes about health issues, as well as addressing socio-demographic factors and social support. At the community level, physical settings play a role in determining physical activity levels. Barriers to women's physical activity include lack of suitable places and facilities, absence of walking paths, neighborhood hazards, limited sports campaigns for women, lack of government financial support for female athletes, and religious legislation in Islamic countries. This review offers a comprehensive understanding of the benefits of physical activity for women as outlined in the Ottawa Charter.
