How can we as a community come together not to fight the system, but to change it? Not to control the narrative, but to improve it? Not to interpret the underserved voices, but to amplify them? As a community, we have the power to make a positive impact. For me, that meant transitioning into community advocacy and working towards equity. But after 3 of the longest years of my life, it's clear that the system itself needs to change. Right now, St. Louis is struggling. Our neighbors are hurting. They need shelter, affordable housing, food, fair wages, dependable childcare, schools, safe streets, and a better quality of life. They need advocates who genuinely understand and support their causes to be heard. I believe that there are leaders out there who can make a difference. The question is, how are you getting involved? How are you lifting your voice up? How can we collaborate to work towards a better future for all? #community #advocacy #collaboration #equity #StLouis

Children and young people in care in Scotland are now most likely to be cared for by members of their extended families or friends, as opposed to living with foster carers or in residential homes. These young individuals face unique challenges that require our immediate attention and action. 📊 Key Facts and Statistics: Increased Risk: Youth in foster care are at a higher risk for adverse life outcomes, including educational challenges and mental health issues. They are seven times more likely to suffer from depression and five times more likely to experience anxiety compared to their non-foster peers. · Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs): Over 50% of foster youth have dealt with four or more ACEs, which can lead to chronic health problems, mental illness, and substance abuse later in life. · Educational Challenges: Foster youth are more likely to struggle with absenteeism and have special education needs, making it harder for them to achieve academic success. · Support Systems: Programs that focus on leadership, life skills, and relationship building are crucial.
