Achieving net zero targets requires that all new constructions and 20% of existing building stock are zero-carbon-ready by 2030. This means significant and immediate action is needed across the construction and real estate sectors. To meet these goals, innovative building management systems and sustainable practices must become standard. Advancements in technology now make it possible to enhance energy efficiency and reduce carbon footprints dramatically. Understanding the impact and necessity of these targets is essential for all stakeholders in the industry. #NetZeroTargets #SustainableConstruction #ClimateAction

Is Sustainability in Construction Just a Buzzword? In today’s construction industry, ‘sustainability’ is everywhere – from marketing materials to project proposals. But what does it really mean in practice? Is it truly shaping how we build, or is it mostly a term that sounds good but doesn’t have enough substance behind it? In my experience, real sustainability isn’t just a checkbox or a set of eco-friendly products. It’s an approach to construction that looks at the entire lifecycle of a project, from material sourcing to energy use, waste management, and long-term maintenance. Unfortunately, too often, the industry talks about sustainability without making the deep, structural changes that deliver lasting impact. For me, sustainability should mean measurable practices – from reducing a project’s carbon footprint to creating buildings that adapt to future environmental needs. As our clients and communities demand more from us, I think it’s time to stop using ‘sustainability’ as a catchphrase and start committing to practices that make a difference. Is the industry doing enough to live up to the promise of sustainable construction? What does sustainability mean to you? #SustainableConstruction #MeaningfulBuilding #EnvironmentalImpact #BeyondBuzzwords

Remember when 'going green' in construction meant putting a few solar panels on the roof? Yup, me too! Times have changed! Now, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do (or at least it feels like it most days, and rightly so!). From using recycled materials to energy-efficient building designs, it's become clear that if you're not thinking green, you're behind the curve. Clients are increasingly demanding eco-friendly solutions, and it’s pushing all of us to innovate and do better for the planet. At Oxbury Chartered Surveyors, we’re fully committed to this shift and we're getting better! We're actively helping our clients navigate the transition to sustainable practices, from advising on eco-friendly materials to project managing energy-efficient buildings that not only reduce environmental impact but also offer long-term cost savings. Our team is constantly exploring new ways to incorporate sustainability into every stage of a project, from initial planning to final construction. It’s about making green choices accessible and practical, not just a checkbox to tick. We’ve seen projects using low-carbon concrete, green roofs, and even entire buildings designed to be carbon-neutral. Sure, it's challenging at times, but it's also exciting to be at the forefront of change. And if it means we leave behind a better world for the next generation, I’d say it’s worth the effort. Is your team embracing sustainability? Or is it all still a bit of a headache? #Sustainability #GreenBuilding #EcoFriendly #ConstructionInnovation #SustainableConstruction #UKConstruction #LowCarbon #EnergyEfficiency #GreenConstruction #SustainableDesign #EnvironmentalImpact #EcoConstruction #OxburyCharteredSurveyors #SustainableFuture #CircularEconomy
