Hello Linkedin, 🚀 Excited to share my final year bachelor's project: a Meteorological Data Collection Drone! 🌤️ I built a hexacopter equipped with: Raspberry Pi for onboard computing Air quality sensor (PM2.5/PM10) BME280 for humidity and temperature UVM 30A for UV index Webcam for capturing images 4G modem for unlimited range telemetry I integrated computer vision and transfer learning using ResNet-18 to predict weather conditions (rainy, foggy, snowy, sunny, and cloudy) based on captured images. I also developed a mobile app to visualize real-time and historical data. This project combines UAV technology, IoT, and machine learning for detailed weather analysis. Check out my blog for a full deep dive into the project! Feel free to drop your suggestions😁 #DroneTechnology #MachineLearning #Meteorology #IoT #RaspberryPi #FinalYearProject

The #TRIPS (Transport Intelligence for Safe Mobility) Pilot evaluation phase by the #MunicipalityofTurin (Road Quality Office, Urban Planning Office, Police) was successfully concluded at the end of October 2024. The TRIPS project achieved notable qualitative outcomes by integrating cutting-edge technologies to tackle challenges in #urbanmobility and #roadsafety. It successfully implemented tools to forecast accident-prone areas and assess road infrastructure using advanced Earth Observation satellite data and machine learning techniques. By leveraging 5G-enabled #drones, the project enhanced real-time traffic management, enabling precise accident assessments and optimized emergency response strategies. The project demonstrated the effectiveness of combining satellite imagery, IoT sensors, and AI-driven analytics to support informed decision-making and proactive planning. TRIPS will contribute to the advancement of sustainable urban mobility by reducing accident risks, improving infrastructure management, and fostering collaboration across public and private sectors. We thank all the entities and people involved who allowed the success of the project: CTE NEXT Turin (Elena Deambrogio, Gianfranco Todesco) Comune di Torino (Cane Fracassetti Jacopo, Cavallera Flavio, Chiantera Giuseppe, Dellanoce Federico, Filannino Luigi), and 5T - Services and Innovation for Mobility Turin (Lara Marcellin). TRIPS is a project led by Data Reply IT in partnership with Novareckon S.r.l., that received financing support by the European Space Agency - ESA for the development of new space-based services related to intelligent transport. #tripsproject #reply #novareckon

Our new research at RMIT explores the integration of UAVs into cellular networks, focusing on interference challenges and coverage optimization. We assess the relationship between Matérn repulsion distance and interference evaluation with the Poisson Point Process, propose a simplified method for evaluating UAV-to-cellular interference in low-density urban areas, and develop a model to predict optimal UAV flight altitudes. These advancements aim to enhance network performance and support IoT applications. hashtag#UAV hashtag#5G hashtag#6G hashtag#RMITResearch hashtag#CellularNetworks

A new article from NASA shares that they, "want to build the first lunar railway system, which will provide reliable, autonomous, and efficient payload transport on the Moon." "The Flexible Levitation on a Track (FLOAT) system employs unpowered magnetic robots that levitate over a 3-layer flexible film track: a graphite layer enables robots to passively float over tracks using diamagnetic levitation, a flex-circuit layer generates electromagnetic thrust to controllably propel robots along tracks, and an optional thin-film solar panel layer generates power for the base when in sunlight. FLOAT robots have no moving parts and levitate over the track to minimize lunar dust abrasion / wear, unlike lunar robots with wheels, legs, or tracks."
