Moreover, a savings culture can also reduce stress and anxiety related to financial insecurity, leading to a more peaceful and secure life. This has led to a culture of overspending and debt in 🇿🇦, with many people relying on credit cards and loans to fund their lifestyle. To combat this, it is essential to educate individuals about the importance of saving and provide them with the tools and resources they need to make informed financial decisions. For discussion: The very concept of "Wealthholder" For years in Financial Services, I have heard, and even been driven to use this dehumanizing term. I always hear, "Bag Holder." To advisors who are fiduciaries and serve many "capitals" in the family, including but not limited to the financial, the holder of wealth is a precious human, to be served and mentored. Yes, until the wealth is gone, at which point, the former holder of wealth is an empty bag and abandoned as such. Say, a wealtholder works with a good advisor or a trusted team in a family office to develop the social and spiritual "capitals." The wealtholder then follows the advice Jesus gave to the young rich man. He gives it all away. Now, he is a bag holder, an empty bag. With the many Wealtholders who signed the Gates Giving Pledge and have done little, is it because they are hypocrites and dawdlers, or are they poorly advised by Fiduciaries to the Wealth held in the Billion Dollar Bag Under Management? The young man who gives it all away stores up riches in heaven, but what good does that do the Fiduciary, for the love of God? Let's get real. Fidicuairies serve the money. It’s not just about saving money, but about ensuring you're prepared for unexpected life events — whether it's a #medical issue, job loss, or an urgent expense that pops up out of nowhere. Having an emergency fund helps you avoid financial stress and gives you peace of mind. Here’s how to structure your emergency fund: 🔸 For most people, having six months' worth of living costs set aside is a solid safety cushion. 🔸 If you're in a double-income family with no dependent parents, you can aim for at least three months of living expenses. 🔸 If you're a single-income household with dependent parents, a more conservative approach would be to save a year's worth of living expenses. 🔸 And don’t forget, your emergency fund should be parked in ultra-short-term or conservative hybrid mutual funds so it’s easily accessible and low-risk. Having an emergency fund ensures you’re ready to handle financial surprises without having to resort to #debt or cutting back on essentials. It’s one of the most important steps toward building financial stability.
