✨Proper pre-suturing techniques help secure the graft material in place, preventing displacement or movement that could disrupt the delicate process of graft integration. ✨And helps with adequate soft tissue coverage which facilitates revascularization, where new blood vessels grow into the graft. ✨This process is essential for the graft’s survival and its successful incorporation into the host bone. #periodontology #periocases #dentaloffice

🦷 Exciting News: Our Special Issue on Periodontology is Here! We're thrilled to announce the release of this month's special issue, led by the BSP. The key theme running through the articles is how best to work within the ‘Steps of Care’ for treating periodontal diseases, as developed originally through the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP). Once the guidelines have been developed by the EFP, the periodontal societies across Europe then incorporate them into national guidance. This process is known as ‘adolopment’, which means a combination of adopting and adapting the European guidelines to fit within each country’s national context of oral healthcare delivery. To ensure the guidelines are as robust as possible the process of development is carefully structured and includes both a systematic appraisal of the published evidence as well as involving the clinical experience and expertise of a range of stakeholders in interpreting the evidence prior to making recommendations. Whether you're based in a hospital, university, or private practice, there's something for everyone. Dive into this rich collection of articles and expand your understanding of the treatment of periodontitis. 📖 Not a subscriber? Ever noticed how even when there's solid science backing up new ways to treat or prevent diseases, it takes a while for the medical community to get on board? Access to research isn't always enough to get these ideas into everyday practice. There are all sorts of things that get in the way, like getting the word out to practitioners and dealing with personal biases that can slow down the adoption of new methods. As dental pros, it's on us to keep up with the latest research and techniques and team up with our peers to make sure we're giving our patients the best care possible. Source: Scannapieco, F. The reconstruction of the lost interdental papilla remains one of the most intriguing and least predictable procedures in periodontology. In the recent case study published in the CDA Journal, “Reconstruction of Interdental Papilla Using I-PRF: Case Report of a Novel Technique,” the authors discuss how I-PRF can be a promising treatment option for interdental papillary enhancement. They say I-PRF reduces the need for surgical procedures, helping to increase patient compliance and reduce morbidity. https://hubs.ly/Q02RSJtx0

I am pleased to announce that our paper entitled “Tunnel technique and subepithelial connective tissue graft, with or without cross-linked hyaluronic acid, in the treatment of multiple gingival recessions: 12-month outcomes of a randomized clinical trial" has been published in the Journal of Periodontology and is now accessible online. This study evaluated the influence of the adjunctive application of a cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA) in the treatment of multiple gingival recessions, using a modified coronally advanced tunnel technique and subepithelial connective tissue graft. Highlights -> MCAT+SCTG is an effective procedure in the treatment of multiple gingival recessions. -> The application of HA improved soft tissue texture. -> The application of HA increased collagen and elastic fiber density.
