What We Can Learn from the Viral Lindsay Lohan Facelift Buzz? The recent conversation surrounding Lindsay Lohan’s rumoured facelift has brought the topic of aesthetic surgery into the spotlight. As a board-certified facial plastic surgeon, I see this as an opportunity to discuss the artistry and science behind achieving natural-looking results. The facelifts of today are a far cry from the over-tightened look often associated with older techniques. Modern approaches, like the Deep Plane Face and Neck Lift, focus on lifting the deeper layers of tissue, ensuring that the outcome enhances rather than alters a patient’s natural beauty. The goal is to look refreshed and timeless, not "done." In cases like this, public interest highlights a few important points: The Importance of Subtlety: The best work often goes unnoticed because it harmonises with the person’s unique features. Transparency in Recovery: Viral stories can oversimplify the surgical journey. The reality includes carefully-planned recovery and tailored aftercare, something I’ve prioritised with pioneering fast recovery techniques. The Role of the Golden Ratio: Balanced proportions play a crucial role in achieving natural-looking results, guiding decisions in many advanced facelift techniques. While it's tempting to speculate about celebrity transformations, my focus is on how these moments can educate and empower individuals to make informed decisions about their own care. If this has sparked curiosity about modern facial rejuvenation, I’m always happy to share insights. #NaturalResults #FacialRejuvenation #PlasticSurgeryEducation

🩺 The Science Behind Scrubs: Why Blue and Green Dominate the OR 🩺 Ever wondered why hospital scrubs are usually blue or green? There's more to it than just aesthetics. These colors are chosen because they are opposite red on the color wheel, providing a stark contrast that helps surgeons see better during surgery. This contrast is not only crucial for enhancing visual clarity but also for reducing eye strain. The blue and green hues help surgeons stay focused and less fatigued during long procedures. Additionally, these colors make blood less conspicuous, allowing the surgical team to concentrate on their tasks without the distraction of glaring red stains. The thoughtful design of surgical scrubs highlights how a simple choice of color can have a significant impact on performance and patient care. It’s a perfect example of how attention to detail and science combine to create a better healthcare environment. Here's to the ingenuity behind the scenes that helps save lives every day! 👩⚕️👨⚕️ ➡ Check out our open roles here: https://lnkd.in/gQ-6DgvC #HealthcareInnovation #MedicalScience #SurgicalScrubs #ColorTheory #HealthcareHeroes #AttentionToDetail #MedicalFacts

Are active middle ear implants (AMEI) beneficial for adults younger or older than 60? In this retrospective study, J. Manuel Morales-Puebla et al. compared age-related outcomes of 20 adults younger and older than 60 who were implanted with the AMEI, VIBRANT SOUNDBRIDGE, between February 2008 and May 2022. Outcomes compared included audiological, surgical, quality of life, and sound quality. Most patients had chronic ear with a previous middle ear reconstruction, while two older adults had unusual indications. The study concluded, “VSB is an effective method of hearing restoration for conductive or mixed hearing loss. Age is not a limiting factor for VSB surgery.” Read more details of this Journal of Personalized Medicine article here: https://lnkd.in/dWQE6WVZ #activemiddleearimplant #olderadults #medresearch

🔎 Understanding Your Recovery Posture 🔎 If you've recently undergone retinal surgery or are preparing for one, you may be advised to maintain a face-down position during recovery. This isn't just a suggestion—it's a critical part of your healing process. Here's why and how to manage it comfortably: 🛌 Why Face-Down? After certain retinal procedures, maintaining a face-down position helps the gas or oil bubble used in your surgery to effectively support and reattach the retina. This positioning reduces strain and promotes optimal healing. 🏠 Tips for Effective Face-Down Positioning at Home: - Use of Pillows and Cushions: Arrange them to make a comfortable setup on your bed or chair. - Adjustable Furniture: Utilize reclining chairs or adjustable beds to help maintain the necessary angle without discomfort. - Specialty Equipment: Consider renting specialized equipment designed for post-surgical recovery. Our office can recommend trusted suppliers for face-down support chairs or massage tables with face holes. 🚫 Precautions: Avoid Pressure: Ensure there's no direct pressure on the operated eye. Monitor for Discomfort: Any pain or sudden change in vision should be reported to your surgeon immediately. 🌐 Read our blog on our website for further guidance: https://lnkd.in/e986R83r #RetinalSurgery #EyeHealth #PatientCare #RecoveryTips
