This week brought another unique opportunity as we were honored to be part of HRH The Duke of Gloucester on a visit to the FareShare Sussex & Surrey & Surrey Guildford Depot. During the visit, The Duke of Gloucester he unveiled a commemorative plaques on the new Freezer and Chiller units, which will enhance the rescue and transportation of more food throughout Surrey. It was great to be with some incredible charities and food industry partners based in Surrey.

How does one of Scotland’s iconic whisky brands contribute to saving lives? Edradour Distillery has launched a special limited-edition single malt to raise over £56,500 for Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA). Crafted from three sherry butts, the 10-year-old malt captures the spirit of generosity, with all profits going to support SCAA’s critical services. This unique initiative was inspired by Edradour owner Andrew Symington’s personal encounters with the life-saving work of SCAA in rural Scotland. Symington's vision includes producing annual charity casks to encourage others in the whisky industry to support the cause. SCAA Corporate Partnerships Manager Andrew Kernohan emphasized the transformative impact of Edradour’s support, hoping it inspires more businesses to contribute. The whisky, described as “liquid Christmas,” is available now and promises not just exceptional taste but a meaningful impact on Scottish communities. 💬 What other industries could adopt similar creative fundraising efforts to support emergency services? A litter charity is creating a national litter database to find out why some areas are worse than others. RECOUP, based in Peterborough, also hopes the database will help advise packaging companies on how to cut down waste. As manufacturers of a large range of outdoor bins, we the team at Amberol will be watching this initiative closely. The initiative is part of the charity's Litter Composition and Pathways Project. It hopes it can be spread nationwide to allow litter picking groups to input data from a variety of locations to make the database as comprehensive and inclusive as possible. #Litter #LitterPicking #Packaging https://lnkd.in/eDguTynh

In 2024, the Denvalco team proudly partnered with FareShare to make a difference in our community. FareShare UK redistributes quality surplus food from the industry to frontline charities and groups supporting vulnerable people. This year, Denvalco was thrilled to contribute by helping distribute 5,000 meals—a small but meaningful part of this massive effort to fight food waste and hunger. A big thank you to the amazing team and FareShare for making it possible! Together, we’re building stronger, more sustainable communities. #CommunityImpact #VolunteerDays #FareShareUK #DenvalcoCares #FightingFoodWaste #BuildingTheFuture

Cornwall Hospice Care are the new charity partner of the Truro office of Bishop Fleming Chartered Accountants - it was a privilege to volunteer in their St. Austell warehouse with colleagues Thomas Brock and Sadie Farmer today. The warehouse is a major logistics operation - its scale and the volume of donations that has to be processed is simply staggering - clothing, textiles, furniture, electricals, books, games, CDs, and general bric-a-brac all need to be sorted before they can be retailed in their shops or recycled. It highlighted to me just how much we consume and throw away as individuals, and also how much charities such as this need volunteers. We'll be doing a lot more volunteering and fundraising for this amazing charity - part of our 1% for Communities responsible business commitment, details of which can be found in our new Impact Report. https://lnkd.in/erWJNyWk

Good points about fundraising communications (and persuasive communication) in this piece about successful fundraising by companies who simply ask customers to round up their bills for charity. 1. Seek donors whose thinking is already aligned with yours. (Example: PetSmart invites customers to donate to animal care charities.) 2. Warm up your like-minded potential supporters with conversation that validates their interests. (Example: REI employees chat with customers about their outdoor adventures, priming them to give to make outdoor experiences more accessible to diverse populations. ) 3. Many small expressions of support can add up to one big impact. (Domino's raised more than $126 million over 20 years for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by inviting customers to round up. )
All that 'checkout charity' adds up. Domino's plans $174 million from it for St. Jude hospital
